Buys Used Medical Equipment Questions and Answers
Resolved Question: Where Can I buy a very Cheap Cardiac Defibulator?
I just received my CPR & AED Certificate from The American Heart Association. I would like to purchase a good used cheap Cardiac Defibulator. I am looking at spending just a couple of hundred of dollars, max. Does anyone know where I can purchase one for this price??? It will have to be in the San Francisco Bay area, or a good website that sells used medical equipment. moreVoting Question: Help for a teen trying to get back into shape?
I'm pretty upset with myself right now: I've gotten really out of shape. I'm not fat, but I've gotten so weak and I barely have any muscle left. I used to be an athlete, for crying out loud! My doctor told me a couple years ago to seriously cut back on the exercise for medical reasons, but I really hate feel so... BLAH. It should be OK for me to exercise again, but I don't know what I can do. Sports are out because it's too intense for my body to handle, and my parents aren't willing to drive me to the gym or exercise classes. What's something I can do at home, and that doesn't require buying a bunch of expensive equipment? I'm getting really sick of running up and down the stairs, here... PLEASE, I want to get back into shape! I want to be healthy and strong again!I eat a healthy balanced diet; I'm not looking for any sort of advice on that, please. I just want to find an inexpensive way to work out my whole body at home. moreVoting Question: Abusive Mother who is Aging and still Abusive?
I was adopted and made to work on a farm. I was the only child. Growing up all I heard was that I was taking food out of their mouth, that I would be sent back if I didn't behave and do the work I was told to. They always borrowed farm equipment and didn't pay their bills for a year. As soon as I was old enough, I started buying junk farm equipment to fix so they would quit borrowing stuff. Over the years, I had to buy them furniture, ac units, and spent tens of thousand of dollars bailing hay for them for free and keeping them supplied in equipment. I finally got married at 40 and my mother did everything she could to stop it. The land I was promised after working the place all those years was withheld. They wouldn't even give me 1 acre to build a house on. They were in their 70's when I married so I just shrugged and said keep everything and left and bought my own land in the community. 15 years have passed and she complains to everyone in the small community about us and how she lives alone. We got her a $7,000 grant to fix her house, got her a medical alert button, arranged to have meds delivered to her house and a government van that will pick her up and take her to doctor appointments or grocery store. She _itches to everyone that will listen how we don't help her. My wife is the one that arranged all this help for her. We are paying off our land and house and can't take off to take her to appointments when their is transportation. Now, I am sick with stage 4 cancer, I don't have long to live, and she goes weeks without calling how I am. Now she is bitching at my wife for not telling her I was in the hospital. I have been hospitalized at least 9 times in the past 2 years. She has been told I am getting worse and to call more often if she wants to know how I am doing. My wife is either travelling to the hospital or nursing me at home or taking me to doctors appointments. My wife has told her she needs to call more often, that things are changing rapidly. She has not called and I am mad she is bitching at my wife, who has a full plate. With the abuse I endured as a child, I don't have much love for this woman and figure if she can't call, its no loss to me. But she is using the situation to get attention. She lives 10 minutes from me but won't visit. But now she is telling relatives and friends in this small community my wife is keeping her from visiting. I had it out with my mother and told her if she wants to know how I'm doing, just call. She claims it is too hard to call in the evenings and she forgets in the morning. Now she has a relative that wants to take her to come visit me in the hospital and I told them to wait till I get home. The relative is pissed at me for being mean to my mom. My mom puts on an act to get attention. In the past people were fooled by her act and helped her, only to hear thru a third party her complaints about them. One lady took her to the doctor, got her meds, took her to lunch, but made the"mistake" at stopping at HEB for a few groceries for herself. My mom complained to everyone, now that lady doesn't come around. My wife use to help her alot too but got tired of the complaining. We lost our business when I got sick, sold most of our farm equipment, and are holding on by the skin of our teeth to our house. This last incident has made me really bitter towards my Mom. I'm not well enough to protect my wife from this abuse that I put up with for too long. ANY IDEAS HOW TO PUT A STOP TO THIS? moreResolved Question: What should Joe Jackson tell Michael's kids after Joe helps Conrad Murray go free?
Michael met and hired Conrad Murray in Vegas in 2006 to treat Michael's sick kids. AEG claims Michael insisted Murray be paid $5 million to be his personal doctor in London. In a TV interview, Frank Dileo, Michael's manager at the time seems to back up what AEG is claiming, that it was strictly Jackson's insistence to bring Murray to London and AEG thought $5 million was excessive for one doctor. Dileo told Jackson: "Michael, for $5 million I'll buy you a hospital". Now Joe Jackson has filed documents to the California Medical Board (this is legit and on record) accusing AEG Live of hiring Conrad Murray to medicate Jackson, use dangerous medical services, give Michael Jackson controlled substances and other drugs. Even if Michael couldn't handle 50 concerts, he'd still make them a fortune doing the ones he could. AEG stood to make $450 million if Michael agreed to a world tour. AEG had no reason kill a guy who's going to make them a mega fortune. Dr. Murray is going to walk out of that courtroom a free man. Hopefully someone will shoot him before he can reach his car right after they've put a bullet in Joe Jackson. AEG didn't hire Murray, Michael did and it was no secret and Joe looks idiotic saying so. AEG promised in writing to pay for medical needs required for normal patient care. AEG didn't even want to pay Murray. They'd never agree to the legal liability and possible criminal charges of paying for all the whaky drugs and equipment which ended up killing Michael. My question is what should Joe say to Katherine and Michael's three children after Murray wins his case because of Joe's greed and need to get back at Michael for being left out of the Will? If you don't care or feel the need to post a nasty remark, please just move on to a question that interests you.MJ Jam - I have no idea what you're talking about. I can't even figure out what you're trying to say. moreResolved Question: What can happen if I agree to not receiving Child support anymore?
Sorry if this is long. I am divorced for 5 yrs (now remarried) and we were given shared custody with no custodial parent. They spend equal time with each but he has paid child support since he made more than double what I did. First issue is that he thinks "his money" should only be used for buying clothes, toys, paying for activities and NOT for food, household expenses, etc. According to divorce he was supposed to pay 70% of medical bills for children, which he has never and one child has medical conditions requiring doctor visits and monthly medication. We are also supposed to each pay for an activity for one child. He wants me to pay for half of the activities of one child when he never paid me half for the other. He complains I never buy them clothes. I do, but I don't spend or buy where he does. When they wear something I got them, he calls and says how can you dress them like that. Spends $500 on baseball equipment for a recreation league and wants me to pay half. One child got braces and he wanted me to pay half and maybe I should be, but haven't because of all the money in the past he never gave me and when I bring it up he changes the subject and says he still pays more. He sent me a letter the other day breaking down what he has paid for activities, dentist, etc. Showing what I owe him and giving me 4 days to respond (must have missed the part when he became a judge) or he will go to court. I truly wouldn't care because what I have in bills and information, I'm sure I would not have a problem but I don't have the money for an attorney. Well now to avoid the CONSTANT arguments over who pays for what, because he feels he gives me support and pays for everything else and completely disregards what I pay for, he wants me to agree to stop receiving child support and he will take full responsibility for all financial portion, including college. Now can this cause me to lose custody because I'm sure thats what he wants. He keeps the one child on my days sometimes and has turned him against his step father saying he doesnt have to listen to him, etc. I am sure there is some motive to this and I don't want it to hurt me. I cannot trust this guy and he is a good sweet talker. This is the same guy who screwed my family out of money, gets credit cards in his family members names, etc. If anyone has some legal advice that would be great. I don't know where to turn and my current husband and I are fighting over the constant nonsense. moreResolved Question: I want to Buy Medical Equipment to supply a small clinic overseas?
I am planning to open a small clinic to help poor and low income people overseas. I am looking for a place to buy use, but good condition equipment.. either from hospitals or auctions. Please give me details on how to resolve this issue so I can move on with my project. Thank you moreResolved Question: How do you get a coworker fired?
This guy has been working for us for about 4 months. He does meet his monthly goals, I have to help him. He is a delivery driver for a Medical Equipment company. He has cussed me and our nurse out, and has had a wreck. He is on drugs and has told all of us how he passes his drug test, including his boss, who he is friends with. I am always taking calls calming patients down who are angry because he hasn't seen them when they wanted him to be there. He goes home early because his "foot hurts" or he "has a headache". I have talked to my boss about it and he will not do anything. All he does is say that he will talk to him which he does, but says that everything is taken care of, and It happens again, over and over. This guy does not know any responsibility. He is always borrowing money from our petty cash which is not supposed to be borrowed. He takes the work van home because he doesnt have enough money to buy gas for his car. So he uses the company's money for personal reasons. It has gotten to the point where we have the cities police looking for him (my other co-worker's husband is a cop) to write him tickets that will have to go to corporate. Background First time submitting US tax return! International student on F1 opt, earned just above the minimum amount for a tax return so you would think it would be easy.......wrong! Well I manged to prepare 8417, 8843,1040NR EZ and another couple I need to do because of my status. I am now wading through the schedule A for health and job related expenses but my questions after all this long winded info is on the schedule A are The monthly payments I pay for health care, is this claimable on the schedule A or is it for expenses you have had for medical care? And under job related expenses - education, professional bodies, unions etc, is this where you would list expenses like licenses, insurance and equipment you have had to buy if operating as an independent contractor? Also do I have to fill out another form for mileage and tolls allowance, I know it is 55cents in the dollar right? It's kind of difficult for me to get into a pro to get this done and the online sites and software program I have wasted hours on recenly didn't cover all my circumstances and the forms I had to use because of my status. I would be very grateful for just a nod in the right direction about where I can claim things I have had to buy to do my job and then I am just going to send it with fingers crossed. And the whole ironic thing is I spent more than I earned Thanks. moreResolved Question: What do I do about my unreliable jogger's Heart Rate Monitor?
I gave up on my old HRM a while ago, and decided to buy a new one. I got on a fitness equipment review site, and selected a well reviewed model. Now this new HRM is giving me trouble also. I'm rather frustrated because I consider hitting my target heart rate to be an important part of my fitness program. I've changed the batteries. I've done what I could to clean the contacts, and the area of skin the contacts are put over. I've even used Clearasil figuring that it's skin oil and dirt cleansing qualities might help, and bought electro-conductive gel from a medical supply. I'm considering calling the manufacturers; but I'm afraid that it's not the HRM, but me that's the problem. This is the second HRM this has happened with after all. (It would work fine for the first couple months then it would get less and less reliable.) I'm afraid there's residues in my sweat that are killing electro-conductivity. Please help.Son of a... Your suggestion actually worked, TheDuck. At least as far as lately I couldn't even get the HRM to give me a heart rate at all. I put it on. It gave me a heart rate soon enough; and continued to give me a heart rate for several minutes. It stopped working just now. Not %100 encouraging. Not least of all since I still don't know what the greater problem was; and that seems to be deteriorating. I used a partially soaked Under Armor shirt, which naturally was freezing as I put it on. I'll try it tomorrow for a workout. The critical thing is getting a full workout out of the HRM without it crapping out on me. Even if that works, there's no guarrantees it will work again the next day, or a week from now.Apology accepted Ubermind. I'm afraid that's not anything not well known by users of HRMs. After all I've yet to hear of an HRM working dry. I don't think that Clearasil could cause a problem. Certainly I've only recently started using the Clearasil, and only in the hope that it would help. It should cleanse the skin of things that might interfere with electro-conductivity. It's not like I'm exposed to anything environmental. What's on my skin is what got there through my pores, residues from evaporated sweat. After that wet sweat from the exercise should be fine.Sorry TheDuck, I got ready for my workout, put on the soaked shirt, now luke warm after being put under scalding hot water, put on the chest band, and turned on the HRM. After waiting a couple minutes the watch gave up on getting a heart rate. Unless someone can offer another suggestion, I guess I'm going to have to call the manufacturers. Here's hoping I just have bad luck with receiving defective HRMs. moreVoting Question: Why does the health care bill prohibit seniors from buying power wheelchairs?

I'm trying to find an underground water pipe leak, it is giving no signs of water or anything else, but I know its there. After researching I've found that the high pressure water leask actually make a bit of noise. I know they have very expensive listening equipment out there, but I don't have the money to buy the expensive stuff, it or hire someone. I want to at least give it a shot to listen through the ground with a stethoscope first. The problem is, I've searched for hours for a direct comparison between mechanics stethoscopes and medical stethoscopes, and cannot find any sort of comparison. I do have a cheap mechanics stethoscope. I figured maybe driving a metal stake into the ground at various places, and listening through it with the mechanics stethoscope might be the best way. However I saw a expensive leak detecting stethoscope, that looked much more like a medical stethoscope. I was thinking maybe it would be worth getting a $20 medical one instead, that I could just place directly on top of the soil and it might work better. I just simply can't find any good technical details as far as what types of frequency ranges they pick up, etc. The other option is a $40 harbor freight "digital diagnostics stethoscope", its like a digitla version of a mechanics stethoscope, but I can't find any reviews or anything if that actually works any better. So if anyone has experience with both, (or even the electronic ones) could you tell me the plusses and minuses of each? Which would be better for listening to underground noises? Thanks for the long and detailed answer so far, although the leak is not under a slab foundation, its in the yard either on the main line, or perhaps in the irrigation system (which I never use). There isn't a main shutoff in the house, but I'm 99% sure its not in the house since I have traced all plumbing in the whole crawlspace with no traces of water, not to mention the crawlspace is completely dry. I also tested the toilets. The meter is running so there has got to be a leak in the yard somewhere but there is no trace at all. I was hoping a stethiscope could help find it, but I don't know wether to drive a stake in the ground and put a mechanics stethoscope to it, or buy a medical one, or even buy a $40 harbor freight digital mechanics stethoscope. Just don't know which would work best. Its leaking roughly 1 cubic foot (7.4 gallons), every 25 minutes. moreResolved Question: What's going to happen when the US gets its own Health Scare System?
HERE'S WHAT ONE CANADIAN WHO IS IN THE MEDICAL FIELD HAD TO SAY ABOUT THEIR MEDICAL CARE: "I lived in a socialist medicine country (Canada) There the employers pay premiums to the health care plan. If your employer does not pay, you have to pay. $80.00 a month for a single person every month. It is illegal NOT to have coverage. A small family of three pays about $100 a month. But low income, welfare people pay nothing. They get everything free, abortions, drugs, needles for their heroin addiction, methadone, hospital stays. You name it, they get it courtesy of the health care plan. And boy do they use it. I have seen welfare people coming in to hospital with their suitcases packed and all their junk with them and all sorts of vague maladies. Turns out they got kicked out of their apartment and they need a place to stay until their check comes in. Doctor does not mind. That's how he makes his money. The ER is plugged with welfare types coming in with sniffy noses, sore throats etc. Also the ones looking for free narcotics for their addictions. Oops! Did I say free? It's not free. It costs the taxpayer zillions. So much they have to shut down ERs, increase surgical wait lists, not buy equipment etc. Why else do you think Canadians flock to the states for health care?"" Can you visualize now what's going to happen when our US Health Scare system comes into force??? moreResolved Question: Possible growth issue?
Ok.. First off, I'm using a fake email for this - too many people know my other one, and this is rather embarassing. Secondly, I am almost sixteen (16) years of age, concerned about growth of my body and the miscellaneous bits of it. Let's start from the beginning. Around 12 years of age, I had my first growth spurt, and I shot up to close to six feet, somewhere around 5'11''. A few years later, I made it to my present height, 6'2''. My voice deepened (comparable to the voice of David Hayter doing the vocals for Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 2. It's up on youtube, just have to look around for it). Anyway, that was somewhere around 13/early 14. I started growing facial hair around that time too, along with all the "other" hair. Gross. My first concern is that I've matured physically a little too quickly - my knees are giving me hell during relatively short periods of kneeling, or any crouching. Same with running, too. I'm quite sure I'm not terribly overweight, last time I checked, I was close to 200 lbs. Granted, I am buying gym equipment later, to help with that. My second concern (and the bane of all men) is that a certain part of my body did not experience the growth spurts I had, apparently it was asleep on the job. My penis - I'm quite sure it doesn't fall in the average range of my age group. Coming in at a little over 3 inches flaccid (limp), and just a hair over 5 inches erect, surely doesn't seem right. I imagine a extra inch or so would be about right. But, I'm not a medical professional, and neither is my date, who packs seven inches flaccid and ten inches erect at seventeen. I do understand things happen at different times for different people, but it would be great if there was a doctor who would respond to this who was knowledgeable about the subject. I don't want to go in to an office and drop my pants, only to have the doc say, "What's the big deal"? (pun intended). Also, I just feel that since the rest of my body looks like it's around 17-18 years of age (as I've been told countless times), that this part should reflect that too. So, I wonder if I should see a doctor and ask him about it, or wait another year or so. Also, people who don't have a legitimate answer to this question, do not respond. Or I'll kill you with a hot fire poker. :-) Thanks for taking the (probably super long) time for reading this, and I hope I can get some answers to set me in the right direction. I know I could Google it, but Wikipedia is notoriously unreliable, so I need opinions from experienced physicians, or the like.Lol, How humorous, Idris. Quando podeces te regi eorum fecerunt? I would certainly say that health care should be accessible to all equally. No doubt about it. But the actual delivery of health care should not be put in the same category as say...freedom of speech. Freedom of speech does not infringe on anybody else. It requires nothing from anybody. Health care is completely different. Medical doctors go through 12 years of expensive schooling to get certified....the equipment used in modern technology is expensive to buy...and you need trained and qualified technicians to operate them...which all costs money...to say nothing of just standard resources such as drugs. How can liberals claim that health care is a right? Can somebody please explain this to me? moreResolved Question: Can I be convicted for Theft by agent or Taking pecuniary advantage by false pretenses?
I run a medical supplies business in my home town. One day, a certain man approached me for assistance. He was to bid in a tender to supply and deliver some medical equipment which he claimed to literary have no knowledge about. On agreement that he would pay me for the services at the end of successful completion of the transaction. On that basis, we left discussing how much he was to pay me for latter. As per agreement, i guided this man through the tender (i.e cost prices, selling price and supporting catalogs plus warranty details). It was also further agreed i would have to import the products according to the costs i gave to him. A few weeks latter, he was given orders to supply two of the items he bid for. This man then decided to betray my trust. He bought one item directly using the information on the catalog and only came to me for the product that did not have full contact details on the catalog. He gave me part payment towards purchase of this item promising to bring the balance a few days latter so that i could import that one piece. As we spent time together, he managed to get information about my source for the same and also secretly ordered the same item he paid for to me. A few days latter, he came back to claim the money he paid in as deposit. When i tried to negotiate for my commission and consultation fee, he refused and reported me to the police for theft by agent. I agreed to pay him back 50% of the deposit through the police some 11 days back and i have received a court summon for Theft by agent from our local prosecutor. Am i at risk of conviction for he same? Especially that all our agreements were verbal. moreResolved Question: Does God give us a right to medical care?
God gives us rights to life, liberty, and property, implied in his divine prohibitions against murder, kidnapping, and theft. Does he give us the right to medical care by refusing others their rights to liberty and property, empowering us to commandeer others' time and seize their medicines, hospital rooms, and medical equipment? Does God sanction the seizure of others' assets through taxation, which they could otherwise use to buy medical care and insurance to protect themselves and their families? More generally, does God give us the right to goods and services that don't belong to us? moreResolved Question: What cuts would you make in Medicare that would not hurt Medicare beneficiaries?
If you were running the program, how would you save money? Here are a couple of examples to consider: 1. Eliminate the middleman in claims processing. Would you play this video game? now before you read this, i did not write this but i did have a similar idea to the person who wrote this. i copied this description from a website call game discovery. so all the credit goes to James Owens. this game is not in devolopment but if you want to see it on the market join my facebook group. called "People who want to play a police RPG." Sim Police "There is a lot of demand for this kind of game, especially among players of the popular Police Quest series and SWAT 3. You're a police officer in a large metropolitan city (a SimCity would be nice). You start out as a rookie (there can be a short training period or rookie school at the beginning to familiarize you with the way the game is played). This game would be played much like SimCopter and Police Quest. The car would be driven like Need For Speed or Streets of SimCity. You patrol your beat at your own leisure and answer game-generated calls for service (armed robberies, speeding vehicles, riots, wrecks, medical emergencies, traffic jams, fights, drunk drivers, burglar alarms, shootings, fires, etc). There is a map on your car console, that displays an icon showing you where the call is. You have several AI partners on the streets with you. You can call them by radio for backup, also you can hear what they are doing and back them up. You can also notify dispatch for fire and ambulance help. You can also come across speeders, drunks, etc, at random. Whether they pull over and how long it takes them to pull over is up to the computer AI. You may have to chase them. You have a good bit of equipment to use: Pistol Shotgun (stored in trunk of car) Baton Pepper Spray Walkie Flares Ticket book Handcuffs Flashlight You also have a choice of several cars to drive such as marked and unmarked Crown Vics and Camaros. Promotions and paychecks are based on points, and money can be used in convenience stores, coffee shops, and to buy new equipment (or maybe to pay informants) etc. You car also has the basic equipment of a police cruiser. Police radio, spotlight, radar, lights and siren (the siren should have several tones, adjustable by the player, and the lightbar and siren should be on separate switches, this a serious flaw in Need For Speed and other games). You can interact with people, and you can walk inside building to do things (eat, do paperwork, answer calls, etc.). There is a central police station, a jail, hospitals, fire stations, bars, gas stations, and a small substation for you and your partners to hang out. I have a somewhat complicated situation and would appreciate some serious, educated advice: My husband and I live in Las Vegas, NV in a home that has significantly depreciated since we bought it 4 years ago. We paid $570,000, and it's now appraised at approx. $270,000 due to our lovely economy! We still owe $460,000, and we have an interest only loan that is coming to the end of the 5 year arm in a couple of months, so our mortgage is going to increase significantly! My husband also has a rental home that is worth what he owes on it. (We were just married, and all debts, etc. are in his name only) My husband is in the process of being sued for over $400,000 due to medical equipment that he leased for a Dr. he employed that has skipped town. He must therefore file for BK to avoid paying $400,000 for equipment he cannot use. My husband believes that our only option is to let our home go to the bank (ASC) and move into the rental home, but, we do not want to leave our current home! What are our options? Will a BK court allow us to restructure our current mortgage for the amount the home is now appraised? We haven't missed a payment, and the bank won't allow us to refinance now. Nobody wants to be the ugly duckling. Make the proceedures cheap and risk free enough and you'll inevitably give rise to a society of Barbie and Ken dolls. I mean, look at what we do to ourselves today. We get botox injected into our faces, get nose jobs and plastic surgery done, get breast implants, liposuctions, get tans, cover our faces in layers of make up, buy rogaine and get hair transplants, buy viagra, buy steroids, buy into gym memberships and equipment, get tattoos, get piercings, buy nice clothes to impress other people with. We continue to develop things like excerise pills that give people the benefit of the excercise without the the exertion or effort, pills designed to grow muscles without the negative effects of steroids, stem cell treatments to grow bigger 'natural' breasts. Of course, you'll also always have the people who won't want to conform and would use such advanced medical proceedures to declare individuality. The practical definition of humanity would be shattered as instead of the races homogenizing, you see them become even more distinct and different. How funny would it be for us to never find alien species, but to effectively create them by altering ourselves out of the standard defintion of human? Already we have subcultures of people who proudly embrace the idea of not being something not traditionally human, it's just a matter of giving them better tools to accomplish their goals. There's also the consideration of brain machine interfaces. I mean, if we're going to shoot out 4 million years and assume that we haven't been killed off, it's pretty safe to say that we would have perfected such a thing. Through videogames, we effectively live other lives in other dimensions, it's just that because we still use controllers and are separated by television screens and computer monitors, most people still keep the experience at an arm's length. However, if somebody would really experience World of Warcraft or Gears of War or Mario as if they were actually there, as those characters, what would that mean for the definiton of reality? Overall, I'd say that if humanity were to live for 4 million more years and not end up being killed off or sent into a permanent dark age by disaster or war, that we'd effectively end up as gods, able to get whatever we want, be whatever we want and experience whatever we want. We would know no desire because we would only whisper our wishes to the air and get them. An enviable position, yet at the same time, a pitiable one. BTW: Was anyone else throughly freaked out by the "unihuman" LOL. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7348103/I do agree that the MSNBC one was a little too out there/SciFi ish,but the rest were pretty much too freaky for me to even put on here. moreResolved Question: please read my story rate 1-10 dont have nothing nice to say dont comment it at all, you are not the best!!!!?
I am on my way to Seattle Washington. Although I well miss my friends and family, mother says it is for the best. Mom is driving, I just hope we make it home in one piece. Mom just got fired for being late at a conference, were loosing money by the hour. So were moving back in my home town near the local hospital I was born in, on November 3, 1995. That way mom is granted a full time job to support my sister Sophia and me. I have no doubts for my mom, after all she is a great single parent and she is for sure a terrific care taker. I don’t know why mom likes being in a white room with medical equipment and a patient eager for medical care. Mom prefers to be in a crowded room with doctors with masks on performing surgery. My sister Sophia is three. Mom really takes her under her wing 24 hours a day. She basically get what she wants, when she wants. She is very plump with the most brilliant amber eyes, and the simplest blond hair that you can find on a store bought Barbie doll. Mom use to joke around and say she almost named her Barbie for her hair. A couple of years back just before my dear father passed on he left my mother a red mustang 2006. She loves that vehicle like she gave birth to it. We just passed a highway sign that reads “Montana 4 miles off enter section”. Mom rolls her eyes, “If it was not for my career we would be at home in a telephone book searching for a job Lauran”. I sign… “yea well you have to be a burse don’t you”. mom rolls her eyes, and rolls down the windows. When the fresh Montana air hit my face I almost collapsed. We strolled my a dumpster, that did not at all help the fragrant. The sky was a grayish chalk color to it, very dull and a unsafe warning to bad weather. A couple birds flew here, and there the whole site seemed familiar, I felt like a free sprit went right through my chest. I grew a free mind and noticed a change in the atmosphere, maybe today was a start of something new, maybe my whole life would turn and twist and squeeze the dull days I once had. Maybe its time my life starts a new chapter. “Oh.. Its 6:43pm Lauren you hungry by any chance” my mother grins with a thoughtful worried look in her dark green eyes. Although my stomach twisted and bounced all around, I have not yet hunger pains. “Um.. No mom. But I think we should all rest and maybe Sophia is hungry to, besides there is a bad storm coming I can just feel it in my veins”. “Is Sophia asleep” mother calls. I turn in my set to view Sophia’s spot in the back third row. She is dead asleep, I really love my sister when she is asleep. “yep” I bellowed. As I have deep thoughts running in and out of my head, I noticed a dark cloud appearing out of the right window toward the back of the car. Silence Brooke loose in the family car by a roaring sound coming from the angry sky. “Oh lord a bad storm I guess we should find shelter” my mom says. Out of no were a dangerous hail storm approaches from the north, my sister wakes up screaming and yelling saying “I want to go home mama”. we both show no sign of paying our attention to the whiner in the car. We were both worried that a bad hurricane might appear out of no where. The next exit was 2 miles away to the next exit accordingly to the sign. The car sped up, I sincerely rolled up the windows for my moms sake of worrying about something else than the road. The sky grew darker, all birds and any sign of life brushed through the trees, the sun set early or was is the black clouds blocking its hot beaming rays? Mom pasted me my sisters bottle and I drove her fast to sleep, she is the reason my mom gets in car crashes in stressing moments much like this. It felt like a nightmare, I fell curious where the beautiful sun shone, and were the white clouds, and the birds chirped in the wind as we drove by. We were new to this state so we have no idea what weather conditions it must be today. But, are only clues are that nature is deserted and any signs of life has left, no cars, no singing birds, no sun, just a big black sky. We reached to a near by town and are looking for some hotels to stay the night in. as I look out my car door window, rain pours down heavily. It looks like today’s weather forecast was prescribed as “raining cats and dogs”.i did not write yellped and no your lame you freako path!!!!!!!! moreResolved Question: Is it possible to sterilize a vibrator using an autoclave?
I recently bought a miniVibes model Corsar from FunFactory. This vibrator consists of a shaft coated with medical-grade silicone containing a motor and battery compartment. The bottom of the battery compartment is made of some form of hard plastic (I am guessing polycarbonate, but am not sure about this). Inside the compartment are several metal contact points, wires, and the motor. I was wondering whether anyone out there knows whether it is possible to sterilize this kind of vibrator in a medical autoclave (yes, I have access to one). This sterilizes surgical equipment by subjecting it to high-pressure steam. The standard setting for metal surgical tools is 10 minutes at 132 degrees Celsius. It can be set to run at a slightly lower temperature for a longer period of time. I am not too concerned about the silicone; however, the plastic may melt under the high temperature and the internal components might warp. I would like to know whether this model will survive the autoclave and what temperature settings would be best. I am aware that most sellers simply recommend soap and water or (this seems most effective to me for surface cleaning) medical-grade alcohol. However, I am an engineering student and am not satisfied to let it rest at this. Any help would be appreciated! moreResolved Question: Israeli Products, can you avoid them?
For those who will boycott Israeli products.. do you think you can survive? I have searched the internet for products that are from Israel, can you survive without them? Only a couple of examples since I don't actually want anyone to stop buying them. Certain Chocolates, health items such as wheel chair lifters, Medical Diagnostic products, also used items such as car radiators, battery testers, burglar alarm systems, anything from intel (got an intel processor?) Fire fighting equipment (hope you aren't going to have any fires) Get me? These things aren't even half of what I see in my face... if you really want the site I found this stuff at, just ask, they are all from anti-Israel sites. Seriously, these people want Israel to lose, but they seem suicidal to me. Good luck... Hope you don't need a hospital during this time. Or a fire fighter Can you really live without these items and products? moreResolved Question: Am I ready for a horse of my own?
I am 13 and I have been volunteering at my local stable for a year and I have been going to my friend’s ranch since I was 8. At the stable, I have turned horses in and out, cleaned their water buckets, cleaned the feed rooms, exercised horses, and groomed horses. At my friend’s ranch, I have cleaned stalls, feed and watered her horses, cleaned their water buckets, taken the horses in and out, taken her miniature horses on a trail walk, talked to her Ferrier and vet, ridden her horses, and started training one of her rescue horses who has made a great deal of progress. I know that owning a horse costs money and is a huge responsibility. My mom has a second job at an after school care place and she said if I help her out after school for two hours I can get half of her pay. By the end of the month, I will have enough money to pay my friend for letting me keep my horse there. I will also have my allowance ($80) and my lunch money that I don’t use ($100). The only reason I wouldn’t keep my horse at my local stable is because I don’t really agree with the way the barn is run… (They take all the fun out of horses). I am looking to adopt a rescue horse (http://www.equineadoption.com/order.htm) and later on show my horse in 4h. My friend’s barn is full at the moment because she only has three stalls. So, my horse could use the lean-to once we build a sliding door on the end of it (pictures below). I know I will need a lot of equipment like grooming, tack, helmet, boots, first aid kit, food and water buckets, deworming medication, and money for floating&vaccinations and incase of colic or any other medical problems. So far I have a my grooming kit, a saddle and saddle pad, shampoo, a lead rope and lunge line, all of the Parelli training tools apart from the bridle system, halter and hackamore, bareback pad, boots, helmet, and the Parelli DVDs. I need to but yet a winter blanket, fly spray, fly mask, first aid kit, a halter, cross-ties, hackamore, bridle, and deworming medication. Once I get my horse, I am going to get insurance on my horse so if something happens, a percent of the cost will be cut. I am also going to buy a round pen, seeing how my friend has always wanted one and I could use it too. I will be able to go out to my friend’s ranch every Friday and Saturday and sometimes during the week once summer arrives. On the days I am there I will be cleaning the stalls and training/ riding. I have not taken any riding lessons except for the ones from my friend but I am not that into riding. I rather just have a pasture pal than a show horse. I am planning on going to college though. For college, I am looking at going to the University of Wisconsin which has a stable there for me to keep my horse at. I was heartbroken and I really don't want to have to go through that again... and neither do my parents:)I understand the basic costs of horses and by the time I will be getting mine, I will have $3,000 saved up. My parents said I can get a hrose only if I pay for it myself but I would like to know if I am ready to get one before I jump in way over my head:) moreResolved Question: Marijuana essay please help?
For the record, I DO NOT agree with the views expressed in this essay it is simply a dumb school assignment which made NO SENSE because it could only be 3 paragraphs yet we had t have 5 different ideas. Ugh. Canada should legalize marijuana. Legal marijuana would have many positive effects on the country as a whole. If it’s possible to help many people, why aren’t we doing it? Indeed, Canada would have much to gain from legalizing marijuana. There are many beneficial factors in legalizing marijuana. If marijuana were to be legalized, the government could have much more control over the quality and production of it. Likewise, it would be less likely to be laced with other drugs, which currently acts as a risk to subsequent addiction to such laced drug. Also, many drug dealers would be put out of business, and the police would have less dangerous drug busts. Again, it would be less accessible to children for there wouldn’t be any “random guys on my street with ‘weed’” that are probably quite dangerous. Legalizing cannabis would decrease the amount of people in prisons drastically and this would save Canada a huge amount of tax payer money. As a result, the police could direct their focus on more serious cases and they would have more money to get better forensics equipment without it all being spent on costly trials. Additionally in numerous countries, including Canada, marijuana is already used for medical purposes. Annually, cancer costs at least a billion dollars; much of this includes costs for loss of productivity. Moreover, there are currently some patients who need marijuana and aren’t able to access it. If some of these patients who suffer needlessly could get the help they needed to get better, better care and more money could be given towards helping others with more serious illnesses, and also for developing a cure for cancer. Finally, to make marijuana legal would give our ongoing weak economy a boost and help many of the currently unemployed citizens. People could get jobs in the industry and support their families, thus homeless shelters would be a little less crowded. For this reason they would buy homes, the housing market would go up, and Canada would yet again become prosperous. Furthermore, the government would also benefit because they would receive mountains of tax and farm revenues. Thus, to help our country in times of trouble, legalizing marijuana could be very helpful. It would be a good move to make marijuana legal in Canada for police, economy, medical and quality reasons. The arguments for legalizing marijuana are far greater than those against it. Its illegality should therefore be reconsidered in Canadian parliament.I was asking about corrections :| moreResolved Question: PLEASE HELP ME CONDENSE THIS ESSAY?

I have seen several ads in this regard. is this true ? Every year the government is required to give away free money to citizens and residents of the United States. This free money can be used for almost any purpose - including to buy a house, start a business, pay for college, buy equipment, pay salaries, buy school supplies, get out of debt, buy clothing, pay for child camp, pay for music, art or education lessons, paying off your medical bills, pay for gas for your car, and anything else you desire. moreResolved Question: Stupid marijuana essay? I don't want to sound ignorant or anything. But people these days when they hear "technologically" and "advanced" in the same sentence, they think of some european nation or Japan. What about the U.S. of A? We surely could beat some of these countries in some categories. One is our military, and no one can deny it. We have the most advanced and strongest military on the face of the earth. It would take years for anyone else to just get even close to catching up. Also we do have some of the worlds most advanced medical technology. With that we also have the world's crappiest health care system. Then it comes to Entertainment. Who do you see making more movies packed with more than needed special effects, and action. And yes lately hollywood hasn't been impressing me, besides the movie The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Dark Knight, and possibly Hancock. Why do I hear about so many people in America going digital, and not buying CD's anymore? Would you still consider us lagging behind when actually it seems like we, besides europe, are the only ones downloading music, and not buying CD's like in the '90s? What about technology you know: laptops, software, phones, etc. Major pc makers like HP and Dell have some of the finest laptops in the world, and so does Acer (even though it's not an american company). Microsoft is a software giant with thousands of computers around the world using it's operating system Microsoft Windows. Even though I hate Vista's vulnerabilites with security. Besides that it's "okay", but I still prefer XP (hopefully Windows 7 is better). So then there is the whole cellphone thing. It seems like we were lagging behind Europe and Japan for MANY years. But! In recent years we've been catching up at a fast pace. I hear rumors about Sprint introducing a 4G network. So face it phones from Europe and Japan aren't so advanced as everyone thought. Who invented the world's first touch screen phone? Apple, and who has made the next best competitor to the iPhone? RIM, and I know it's a canadian company, but this applies for them too. Now I know we do have a technological edge over many nations in some fields. But in others it seems like we're still in the 20th century. So basically every country has it's strength and weaknesses, but the U.S. shouldn't be underestimated when it comes to how advanced we are? Some of you might think i'm just trying to prove the U.S. is the most advanced nation on earth. When really there is no MOST advanced nation on Earth. I could name many ways on how european countries, primarily U.K., France, and Germany, make life in the U.S. look the same as in the '90s. Or how South Korea with it's high-tech infrastucture totally dominates that of America's. Even Japan with it's microelectronics. Here's something from the CIA World Factbook about U.S. firms: US firms are at or near the forefront in technological advances, especially in computers and in medical, aerospace, and military equipment; their advantage has narrowed since the end of World War II. Here's the link: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/us.html Sorry if I seemed a little paranoid, ignorant, arrogant, etc. I'm just getting tired of people, mostly teens at my school I know, saying we're like some third world country cause we're so FAR BEHIND THE REST OF THE INDUSTRIALIZED WORLD. Thanks for reading my very long question. P.S: There's more that I can add like information technology giants Google and Yahoo, digital mp3 players: iPod and the awesome iPod killer the Zune, etc. If you wonder, yes, i'm a very patriotic person. Who wouldn't be!? But, maybe I need to tone down on my patriotism just a tad bit.I know that this question is in Yahoo Answers. I also know this isn't the best category to put it in. I just wanted to put it in YA. moreResolved Question: Is the solution to the health insurance crisis not universal health care, but regulating hospital costs?
Maybe the problem with health care in this country doesn't need to be addressed with universal health care, but with regulation of the health care system's costs. Hospitals have focused more on pampering and spoiling their patients than on essential care. Today's brats have complained to hospitals demanding prompt care and quality, all at improperly fast speeds. Hospitals don't have a limit to the amount of staff they hire. For example, health care is out of touch with industry in the rest of Michigan. Hospitals hire anyone who has taken the required classes right out of fast food places or retail, while other industries are cutting back. All these people know it too. Doctors live in palaces and hospital staff are regularly feted to lavish dinners paid by drug reps, who are also driving up drug costs with their spending. It's sad to see people going bankrupt to pay for their medical care while hospitals are having a ball, hiring limitless staff and spending on expensive equipment. They don't ever try to control their costs. Meanwhile, hospitals use the same tactic the military uses to get funding; FEAR. People buy it and complain about the health care in other countries. They give these hospitals carte blanche to charge them whatever they want, under the illusion they are getting better health care. The fact is, the way Canada's health care system is run is probably the most stable and realistic one. Eventually, our system will have to come down to their level to survive, with or without universal health care. moreResolved Question: Is the management of American hospitals and healthcare systems out of control, cost-wise?
I think that a lot of the problem with the healthcare system in America is that the costs are out of control. The management has been hijacked by greedy corporate types with MBA's. The healthcare industry has been hiring when other industries have been suffering and laying off. Most people who used to work at McDonald's go take a class and work at a hospital or nursing home. Hospitals have so much expensive equipment, some that cost MILLIONS. Yet, if you don't have decent health insurance or any health insurance, most patients get charged exorbitant prices for their care! Why should anyone have to go into serious debt for care? It seems like the executives of these hospitals are taking advantage of the situation and extorting people! This is why they can hire all sorts of people, even the dregs of society, and buy all kinds of machines! What's worse, the pharmaceutical industry hikes up their costs by using their drug rep minions to buy expensive lunches, dinners and outings for doctors to bribe them! That is outrageous! I used to work at a restaurant and whenever I needed to charge a rep extra, they didn't care, they'd tell me to put on a huge tip too! All that BS about needing to keep patents in order to recoup the costs of researching the drug are total garbage! I think hospitals and drug companies need to get their costs in line! Every other industry has had to, why not the medical industry? moreResolved Question: Was dumped one week after moving across country to be with her ... what do i do?
Its been three months since I got sent packing and I really thought I would be feeling better by now. Well since im posting on a website I guess you have figured out that im not. Ill give a little back story. Its not quite so little but the story is complicated ... read if you wish haha. Me and my ex met at college in both of our senior years. We were both marine biology students and had many classes together. She is a incredibly intelligent girl (4.0) and beautiful so needless to say I became interested. I asked her out, we started dating, and before long she was my girlfriend. I had never had anything serious before so everything was new to me but the whole year at school that we dated things were amazing. I would stay over at her apartment pretty much every night until the summer when her lease expired and then she moved in with me. I had very little money (still do) and was paying for things with a part time job and extra student loans while she was getting a monthly check from her parents for rent. The only times we ever had anything resembling a problem would be her getting upset about certain things i bought, which was not much at all ... i was poor. But we def had different upbringings and opinions about money which caused a little scuffle from time to time. After that summer she went to Thailand on a research grant for a year while i moved back home. I had tried to prepare myself for the distance yet it was still very hard and also knew that after her stay in thailand she would be starting grad school in texas (i am from ny). I tried to stay busy, got a job delivering medical equipment, and talked to her as much as i could on the cpu (phone was too expensive). Money problems still followed me though. I owed money for my last class at college and I could not have my transcripts until that money was paid off. I also was having to start paying back student loans. So with no degree i was not able to get a better job yet i needed more money to get the degree and get a better job ... quite the dilemma huh? I also was trying to find a way to visit her in thailand and planed on using my tax return to pay for it. More bad news after that ... my dad claimed me as a dependent without me knowing so my tax return that i had used to buy a plane ticket vanished and after i eventually paid back my debt to school I was told there was a foreign language requirement to finish which my adviser had never mentioned. I couldn't afford a class right then so it got put off for some time. I tried to look at the bright side of things, money isn't everything. I came back from my amazing visit to Thailand more confident than ever that we were meant to be together forever. I was on top of bills and loan payments while also having some money to help my parents occasionally (they aren't very good with money). It was around that time i heard the first doubts from her that things might not be able to work. She told me she had a lot of time on her hands and after thinking a lot was not sure how me moving to texas would work with my money situation and not having my degree yet ... etc. Even with her having no loans and a generous stipend for her grad school work she wanted everything to be 50/50 if I moved down. I told her I would do my best to line a job up for when i moved but was not sure if i could find something before I was in texas without being able to interview in person. I also was comfortable transferring my current job and at least having some type of money coming in until i found something better. Even though it would be hard I was ok using every last cent to be with her. At the end of that conversation though she was convinced she was just having cold feet and that I would be able to work things out. Needless to say I moved to texas. But from day one things were weird. I didn't know if it was the time apart or her still having doubts but things just didn't feel right. I never got that "honeymoon" period that i so desperately craved. A week in after she had spotted me money for a couple bills she decided things couldn't work and seemed like a completely different person from that moment. I am 13 and trying to raise money to go to Africa to do some charity work. I need to raise £600 to allow me to go and would like to raise more money on top of that to buy medical supplies e.t.c to give to the poor people in the community where I will be working. Hi all, I am just wondering if there are any 5th (Final) year medical student out there who may be able to help me, My Girlfriend is in her final year of med school at the moment and I want to buy her a gift she can use in work, Maby some kind of equipment as she seems to have all the books she needs. Any one have any idea's what I can buy for her as a gift. Thanks moreResolved Question: Who are you voting for? Obama or McCain?
Tell me a reason why, not just 3 sentences or I'm guessing you're clueless as to why you're even voting for them. I think we need to remember WHY we have been screaming for change from the Bush policies. Obama is accused of being inexperienced. Keep in mind that Bush supposedly had experience and look what we got. I believe that it is more important to have the intelligence to get the best advisors and to lead the country out of the disasters of the Bush administration. McCain has said proudly that he voted 90% of the time with Bush. Doesn't that bother anyone? Do you want more of Bush? Are you better off now after Bush's 8 years? More and more people are losing their health insurance. More and more are losing their jobs and their homes.Banks are shutting down, and we have a loss of respect from our allies . Think Katrina! 5 days on a rooftop waiting for help. Heck of a job Brownie! The many many soldiers who were killed because Bush lied us into an unprovoked war and many without their limbs and being rationed by our government on the care they get. We have more and more homeless vets and their families. Republicans vote down benefits for the vets. They were sent over there without the proper equipment and were told they had to buy their own bullet proof vests. Suicide deaths are at an all time high Have you heard of any improvenments to Walter Reed? Do the vets still have to wait months and some years to get medical care? Do they still have vets waiting in a wheel chair for months and the hospital does not even know they are there? Do you still want the administration using the "executive privilege" to cover their secretive sneaky unlawful deeds? Isn't it strange that this Iraq war is suddenly winnable and the gas prices are coming down? Do you think the election has something to do with it? McCain votes 90% with Bush If you vote Mccain I'm guessing you want the same 8yrs.From what I'm seeing all McCain voters speak in one sentence, I see that you all lack in education just like Bush.Racist? http://www.laprogressive.com/2008/09/05/alaskans-speak-in-a-frightened-whisper-palin-is-%E2%80%9Cracist-sexist-vindictive-and-mean%E2%80%9D/ moreVoting Question: Pennsylvania child support laws?
Here's the situation....tell me some answers. My husband has a 9yr old daughter from a previous relationship (not marriage). They never went to court and made up their own agreement stating that my husband has his daughter every other weekend and that he will pay $200 in child support every 2 weeks. My questions are : Is that too much? Is he responsible to have her covered under his medical insurance? Is he responsible to pay all her doctor's bills? At tax time, does she get to claim the daughter because she lives with the mother and is with her more throughout the year? I'm asking these questions because this biatch is always asking for more money. He pays all her doctor bills and has her covered under his insurance. The $400 a month isn't even being used towards the daughter probably. She asks for more money and yet they get new things such as big screen t.v., excercise equipment, 4 wheelers, and probably drugs. She doesn't even take her shopping for new clothes, her grandmother, my husband's mom, buys her clothes. Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated, especially if you are a PA lawyer. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Gynecological medical equipment?

WASHINGTON - The government is taking too long to secure radioactive materials across the country that could get into terrorists' hands, according to a government report. ADVERTISEMENT Radioactive material used for legitimate purposes in medical equipment and food, for instance, could be used to create an explosive device known as a dirty bomb. Experts believe such an attack would be contained to a small area but could have significant psychological impact and have serious economic consequences because of cleanup problems. The Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks prompted the government to do a better job of securing nuclear and radiological materials. And nearly seven years later, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission says these materials are much more secure. But congressional investigators say it's not enough. According to a Government Accountability Office report released Monday, new requirements to ensure that a person purchasing or carrying radioactive materials has a reason to do so is more than three years behind schedule. In a probe last year that set up a bogus company, investigators said they were able to obtain a license from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that allowed them to buy enough radioactive material for a small dirty bomb. Officials hope the licensing requirements will prevent this from happening again. NRC spokesman Neil Sheehan said a pilot program was completed in May, and the commission expects final guidance next month. Further, a system to track radioactive materials as they are transported across the country has also faced multiple delays. The NRC says the system should be in place at the end of this year, but it will not be a real-time tracking system, such as used by some package delivery services. The system will report transfers within one business day, Sheehan said. And if material goes missing as it's transported, an alarm system will notify officials, he said. On the inspection side, government investigators found that most Customs and Border Protection officers across the country were never told of 2006 radioactive material reporting requirements by the agency's Washington headquarters. In May 2006, Customs and Border Protection changed its policy to require that officers contact authorities if they detect "more than incidental" amounts of radiation. But this was never communicated to officials in the field. The GAO also found that there is not enough personal radiation detection equipment for Customs officials at land borders. In 2003, 8,000 out of 18,000 officers and agents had personal radiation detection devices. Currently only about half of the agency's agents and officers have the equipment because of budget constraints, agency spokesman Lloyd Easterling said. Getting these materials secured has been a longtime goal of Minnesota Republican Sen. Norm Coleman. Coleman says he's happy there's been some progress, but it's taking too long, and it's not enough. "I'm still not convinced they fully grasp the psychological and economic impact that even a small dirty bomb attack would have on the American public," Coleman said of the NRC. moreResolved Question: What percentage should I take? Please help!?
I am thinking about buying some medical equipment for my brother's practice. He is a new doctor, just bought a house and had his first kid so he is strapped for cash. The equipment is about 8-10k. He would give me a percentage of sales used on the equipment. What percentage would you think? I am providing the equipment, he is providing the patients and getting referrals from contacts. Any suggestions on what kind of split of profit? moreResolved Question: i wanna ask if a fitness gym owner is allowed to sell and admister an injectable steroids.?
this guy is not a doctor or a nurse to inject a steroids to some of his costumer who want to buy it to get this substance into their system.i think theres a lot of what we call it ILLEGAL in this action of this owner to earn more money other than just using his fitness equipment and some teaching on how to use them by his gym instructor and other normal way of being physically fit of their member or costumer.as what i've known STEROIDS is definitely an enhancing drug and is included to the lists of what we call DANGEROUS DRUGS.and selling it out of pharmacy and most likely doesn't require any prescription.and the fact that aggravate this irregularity is this substance was being administered by a non medical pracitioner person.if ur interested about this case, just let me know.i have a picture that this guy is actually injecting this illegal substance to his gym.it's really easy to make an entrapment to bust this wrong doing.THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR TIME TO READ THIS LETTER.GOD BLESS... moreResolved Question: Should healthcare follow this route to minimise costs and save?
taxpayers' money ? An eminent British neuro-surgeon has been performing complex brain operations using a £30 do-it-yourself cordless power drill at a clinic in Ukraine. Henry Marsh, a senior consultant at St George’s hospital in Tooting, south London, has used the Bosch 9.6 volt battery-operated hand tool to open up the skulls of his patients to remove life-threatening tumours. Occasionally the battery has gone flat halfway through. The operation is performed with the patients fully awake – a technique that fell out of use in Britain 50 years ago. Marsh said that Ukrainians could withstand such a practice because they were “very tough”. The 58-year-old consultant travels to Ukraine twice a year to perform free operations at a clinic run by a fellow surgeon, Igor Petrovich. The handyman drill was used because the local doctors could not afford state-of-the-art equipment. When working for the National Health Service, Marsh uses a £30,000 compressed-air medical drill, but he said that the Bosch was an effective stand-in. “There’s not a huge difference,” he said. “The drill is Igor’s solution. It’s simply an ordinary drill which he uses with the standard medical drill bits. “I have used the Bosch drill myself when I’ve been operating with Igor. It’s exactly the drill that you could have in your garden shed. He bought it at a do-it-yourself shop.” There is a shortage of fully trained anaesthetists so Marsh’s patients are given only a local anaesthetic. This enables him to talk to them to ensure that he is not doing any permanent damage as he drills. I found a highly referred vet in my area for rabbits and all animals in general. We brought our bunnies in for check ups and he went over them thoroughly. His knowledge of necessary diet was great, he knew what they should eat, but more importantly what they should now, from which treats were junk food to which greens would make them sick. His neutering was the best, he used Isoflurine, a localized shot and really advanced/new equipment, he been doing it for years but buys new equipment every time it comes out. He even attends rabbit conventions for vets to be updated on what is going in the rabbit world. This week I found some counter information to what he told us. He told us that the male needed time to heal of course, but was in no danger of impregnating the female immediately following the surgery, I am now being told by breeders the sperm in the "tube" of a male can remain alive/active for 30 days after the neutering. Is this true, can you cite it to a medical source? Is there any modern technique were they could have purged the Vas Deferens or made him otherwise instantly sterile? He also came highly referred from people in the area as well as pet stores. So im not just taking his word for his credentials. We have spoke to people who have brought their rabbits and other pets there for years. moreResolved Question: Please help..?
