Resolved Question: I am a high school teacher who suspects child abuse. Do I have enough evidence to report anything?

I am a History and English teacher at a very prestigious high school. This is the second year in a row in which I will be teaching one particular young man, who is currently in my AP World History course. He is one of the most intelligent and likable students I've ever had in 12 years of teaching; perfect grades and test scores, a kind and thoughtful personality, and is very well-respected by the student body. Last year, he frequently showed up to class crying, with a series of awful bruises and hematomas under the eyes and around the temple. Particularly vivid in my memory is a broken left cheekbone that he exhibited in April of the past school year, which never received professional medical treatment. Another highly suspicious behavior is his tendency to always wear a jacket and long pants, even in 110-degree weather, though the school nurse reports that he sports a 1-foot long scar along his right calf, which opens to the bone. He conspicuously avoids discussing any of these matters, although they do not appear to significantly deter his academic or social life. I have met his mother and father, who are highly principled though extremely strict people (devoutly religious family, Turkish-Muslim), and have great admiration towards the fantastic job they did. Unfortunately, however, it is also my view that they are excessively controlling and dogmatic. I am aware that his mother has taken 2 years of anger management courses in the past, and at the end of last year, personally witnessed her choke a girl and break her car windows after that girl gave a rather innocent "good bye" hug to her son. I have vaguely overheard in casual conversations this boy commenting that his parents frequently threaten to kick him out of the house, or refuse to pay for his tuition and health insurance, as instruments of power and control. However, he always speaks so highly of his parents, and does not appear to resent them at all. Aside from the aforementioned incident, I have only seen healthy and loving interactions between this boy and his parents. As a teacher, I try to refrain from criticizing the philosophies of my students' parents, and try to be professional at all times. However, I strongly suspect that this child faces severe physical (and less so, psychological/emotional) abuse at home, despite the fact that I see only minor abnormalities in his academic performance and personal demeanor. With only circumstantial evidence and "gut instinct," should I report, or "mind my own business," as educators are increasingly being told to do? more

Voting Question: Is this a good medical education program? (10 Points)?

I will soon start to apply for med schools and the one that interests me most has a rather peculiar study course, could you please tell me if you consider it to be good enough (btw, the subjects are not in order) or if its lacking something (people who've actually been in med school, ill appreciate your answers the most). Another "btw", this study course wasn't originally in English, so I tried to translate it the best I could. Thanks so much to anyone who answers! :) Health Services Administration Anatomy Clinical Anatomy Biological Bases of Diseases Biostatistics Biophysics Cellular Biology Cancer Biology Development Biology Molecular Biology Biochemistry Health Quality Emergency Medicine - Trauma Neurology - Psychiatry Orthopedics - Rheumatology Clinical Pathology Cardio - Vascular Nephrology - Urology Pulmonology Ophthalmology Endocrinology Gastroenterology Infectology Otorhinolaryngology Dermatology Clinical Genetics Gynecology - Obstetrics Hematology Doctor-Patient Communication Human Dignity & Spirituality Sustainable Project Design & Evaluation Human Ecology Endonutrition Epidemiology Health Ethics Cellular Physiology General Physiology Formation of Health Human Resources Genomics and Proteomics Geriatircs Leadership Abilities Clinical History Medical History and Philosophy Immunology Scientific Reading & Writing Health Legislation Internal Medicine Investigation Methodology Pediatrics Practicum: Surgery 1 Practicum: Surgery 2 Practicum: Surgery 3 Public Health Evidence-based health information systems Therapeutic Pharmacology Therapeutic Surgery ICT in Health Sciences There are also these optional subjects: Basic Prehospitalary Attention Pharmacoeconomics Sociomedics and optional diplomas: Diploma in Medical Leadership: Integrated Medicine Specific Surgery Subjects Specific OBGYN Subjects Specific Internal Medicine Subjects Specific Pediatrics Subjects or Diploma in Medical Investigation: Bases of Clinical Investigation Biosecurity Experimental Design Basic Instruments of Biomedical Investigation Experimental Biomedic Techniques Experimental Molecular Medicine Techniques The program lasts four years, and then you do one of internship and one of social service. Then I'd be off to a residence (I have my eye on Plastic Surgery). This university is in Mexico, do you think I could get into a good plastic surgery residency in the US with this education? (btw, i've been a straight A student all my life and I like to help people, just for if anyone was thinking of criticizing me by saying I wasn't ready or something... I've thought this over a loooot) more

Resolved Question: What Instrument? Beginner needs help!?

Thank you to anyone that bothered to answer this question. I want to learn to play an instrument but I'm really not sure what to play. I've never played an instrument before, and I am in 10th grade (High School in Australia). I have no clue to read notes, nor am I in any way a good candidate to play an instrument, due to medical issues involving my lounges. I have been considering a number of instruments, so I will list them. - Oboe - Trumpet - Clarinet - Piccolo I have actually played the Recorder in first grade, and was pretty good at it, however, I doubt I could play anything on it now, and it is, to my knowledge never used in a band. Thanks in advance for any help. Also, please tell me if this is in the wrong section so that I can put this in the RIGHT section so that I will get help. Thankyou again. When I say lounge conditions, I just mean that I will tire, so the less strenuous is preferable. I do play sports, and I do exercise frequently. But the more I have to push my lounge capacity, the more uncomfortable it is. But, it doesn't really matter because the "queeziness" only starts about an hour after actually straining myself, so it will not actually affect my performance. more

Resolved Question: DO I need to reduce amperage?

Okay, here is the project. I found a free LCD monitor. The reason it was free is because it has no power supply/adapter. The monitor requires 12v 3.0amps, I have an adapter that came out of a medical instrument that is 12v and 4.3amps. If I'm not mistaken, the monitor does not actually need anything to reduce the amps because it should not be allowed to pull more than 3.0 amps. I do not want to destroy the monitor though because I don't have the money for another one. Thanks for any info! Rarefacted more

Resolved Question: Christians do you believe that masturbation is a sin?

Is masturbation considered to be a sin by Christian churches? Is it a sin or an abomination like homosexuality or lesbianism? I was raised Roman Catholic and I can remember a few boys in my class convinced that masturbation was killing babies. They actually believed that masturbation was a form of an abortion because the sperm that was intended for procreation was used instead for recreation. There goes my offspring into a Kleenex and flushed down the toilet. I can also remember sex education classes being taught to me by Catholic priests. Masturbation was referred to as "self abuse" and I can remember a priest telling the boys that he had case studies of husbands who were impotent, suffered from erectile dysfunction and retarded ejaculation and the priest believed the culprit was years of self abuse when the men were single. Christians do you believe that masturbation is a perversion, using a part of your body that God intended for you to use for procreation and perverting it into a tool for recreation? Do you believe that, despite medical evidence to the contrary, that male impotence, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation problems with intercourse are attributed to masturbation? In the Book of Genisis, God cursed Eve, and all women with menstruation for eating the forbiden fruit. Does God curse men who masturbate with sexual disfunction when trying to conceive children? When a person masturbates, are there several sins involved? Conveting? Lust? A person may think about sex with another person while masturbating. Then there is the perversion of using an instrument of procreation for recreation. Two sins there. Are there any other sins involved? Do Catholics have to confess if they masturbate to a priest? How many Hail Marys do you have to say for a redemption if you confess to mastubating?I think I have to be careful with what I want to hear for me personally and what I want to hear as a source for my own personal guilt about masturbation. I want to find out why I think that masturbation is wrong and shameful. I think the source of this belief is the church. Temptations of the flesh and all that.So if a person masturbates they are not considered sexually chaste and they are being unfaithful to their spouse if they engage in sexual behaviors other than intercourse which results in the procreation of life. Does the church consider masturbation to be a perversion for single people and a form of infidelity for married persons? more

Resolved Question: So I want to be pilot...?

I have always wanted to have a career as a pilot. I am 20, and am a junior in college. I do have my private pilots license, and am working on the instrument/commercial. At first, i was planning to go the military rout, but have found out that i will not be able to pass the Military Flight Class I physical ( I Have already passed the civilian first class medical though so i should be good to go there). But anyways, I keep hearing how rough the market for airline pilots is and how its just going to get worse, so i am not sure if i am wild about that option. At this point, i am thinking I might just end up completing my degree and getting a "normal" job, but i definatetly dont want to close the door on a career as a pilot just yet... Any ideas or suggestions? Are there any other practical options? more

Voting Question: Help with college personal statement?

It is July so I have a month or two before I really need to get serious, but i've been messing around trying to start ahead of time so I can have a personal statement for colleges that really stands out. This is my second attempt, and its not done or anything, just fragments of ideas that have turned out horrendously wrong, I guess I've gotten caught up in trying to be creative and everything.I still need to add a ton, but I didn't know if anyone could read what I have so far and tell me if I'm even remotely close to heading in the right direction? I can not run a mile in six minutes, nor can I play an instrument with Mozart’s proficiency. Ask me to sketch a simple landscape, and I challenge you to be able to tell the difference between my depiction and the product of a pre-schooler picking up crayons for the first time. Now, if you challenge me to a debate on the issue of illegal immigration, I’ll dive in head-first without hesitation. As a college admissions officer, I am quite certain you have heard all the generic qualities that a particular applicant can bring to your college community. However, I can assure you that you have never had an applicant quite like me. My knack for being out of the ordinary began at a young age. In third grade, when other kids found enjoyment in riding bikes and finger-painting, I found pleasure in learning. I would be just as happy as the other kids when I was reading a book about why our body forms a bruise when we bump our knee. By eighth grade, when other kids had moved on to playing sports and having their first relationships, I moved on to reading Shakespeare and learning about iambic pentameter. Over time, nothing has really changed much; my love of learning has only continued to flourish. Just this past year during medical terminology, while many of the other students were copying answers out of the back of the textbook, I was too absorbed by the material to even know there was one. During pre-calculus, while most of my peers would be content just learning the day’s lesson, I preferred to stay behind after class and ask my teacher about why exactly the Pythagorean theorem works in the first place. My zest for knowledge has not come without its challenges. For one, I’ve learned most teenagers are not exactly enthused to hear about how you solved a problem over the weekend by turning it into a system of linear equations. However, through challenges like this one I’ve only grown as a person. Since I’m constantly interacting with those who do not share the same viewpoints I do, I’ve learned to work more efficiently with others. I know this is a skill that will greatly benefit me in college as group discussions are often a standard part of liberal arts studies. Looking ahead to college, the idea that I will soon be able to share my love of learning with others thrills me. ...still much to add I know. Please keep in mind the organization is extremely rough and I know it does not flow well at all, I just have no idea if I'm heading in anywhere near the right direction and could clearly use some guidance, if anyone could assist, just a tidbit or two of insight even, I'd be greatly appreciative. more

Resolved Question: Joining the US military to improve humanitarian operations. Probable or ridiculous? PLEASE HELP!!!?

I am a 21 year old girl, and am working towards my B.S. in Applied Mathematics at University. I graduate in 1 year and have already been pre-accepted into a Global Studies Master's program because of past papers and projects I have done on different developmental strategies around the world. Although I have an opportunity to go into a graduate program, I feel that I may be a great asset to the US military. I have always taken interest in the military, and will join only if there are better, guaranteed, opportunities for me then graduate school, or if the military would fund my graduate studies. I have a current Private Pilots license and am currently working on my Instrument Rating. I am proficient in Spanish and Italian, and I will also be proficient in Hindi after these next few months. I am passionate about piloting and travel, and have lived in various places all over the world. I wanted to know what opportunities there is in the military (most likely army or USAF) that involves humanitarian missions and relief. I am very interested in the Afghanistan Reconstruction unit, and think that since the US military is one of the greatest providers of relief around the world (ironically) that if there was more emphasis and innovation in the humanitarian efforts of the military, the entire reputation and support of America and the military will change. I have always wanted to join the military to be a pilot, but as I have gotten older my priorities have changed, plus I am a quarter inch (on a good day) too short to qualify for a military pilot. What are the possibilities of being able to work in a humanitarian based field? Directing aid and relief, locating areas where certain projects, infrastructure, medical providence is needed, etc. Also, what are the possibilities of the military financing my graduate studies? I just want any and all information from past military personnel who can give me much more information on all military relief topics before I consider signing my life away. So let me know, plausible or just ridiculous? more

Voting Question: Would You Ever Consider Abortion?

A Biological Survey: 1) Name 2) Gender 3) Age 4) The Country you live in 5) Would you ever consider having an abortion? 6) Do you know that there are different types of abortion? 7) Do you know a clinic available to you if you ever wanted an abortion? 8) Names? 9) Do you know the procedures of any abortions? 10) Would you still consider a medical abortion if you knew that it entailed a doctor administrating either a syringe of Methotrexate (this stops the growing and dividing of the fetal cells) or Mifepristone (this blocks out the hormone progesterone, without this hormone the blood vessels of the fetus breakdown and the fetus breaks away from the uterus wall) to the mother; and then a few days later administrating the pill Misoprostol orally or by inserting into the vagina, causing the uterus to contract and resulting in the expulsion of the fetus? 11) Would you still consider a vacuum abortion if you knew that it entailed a doctor dilating your cervix and inserting a sharp edged tube into the uterus, sucking out pieces of the fetus and then using a sharp spoon shaped instrument to remove the remaining parts? 12) Would you still consider a partial birth abortion if you knew that it entailed a doctor turning the fetus around so that the feet come out first, pulling the fetus out until only the head and neck are left inside the mother, then pushing a blunt tipped pair of scissors into the base of the skull and opening it so that a suction can then be inserted to suck the brain out causing the collapse of the skull and is only then removed from the mother? 13) Would you still consider a dilation and evacuation (D&E) abortion if you knew that it entailed a doctor enlarging your cervix and breaking the fetus’s body into pieces that are then removed one at a time? 14) Would you still consider an instillation/induction abortion if you knew that it entailed a doctor injecting your uterus with prostaglandin/urea and saline which the fetus breathes in and swallows causing the fetus to be burned and poisoned, and then you having to deliver the dead fetus? more

Voting Question: VA Hospital infects 1500 people with AIDS, is this how Government run Health Care is going to be?

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/30/va.hospital.hiv/index.html (CNN) -- A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV. John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan. Carnahan said Tuesday he is calling for a investigation into the issue and has sent a letter to President Obama about it. "This is absolutely unacceptable," said Carnahan, a Democrat from Missouri. "No veteran who has served and risked their life for this great nation should have to worry about their personal safety when receiving much needed healthcare services from a Veterans Administration hospital." The issue stems from a failure to clean dental instruments properly, the hospital told CNN affiliate KSDK. KSDK: VA dental patients at risk of infection Dr. Gina Michael, the association chief of staff at the hospital, told the affiliate that some dental technicians broke protocol by handwashing tools before putting them in cleaning machines. The instruments were supposed to only be put in the cleaning machines, Michael said. The handwashing started in February 2009 and went on until March of this year, the hospital told KSDK. The hospital has set up a special clinic and education centers to help patients who may have been infected. However, Carnahan said he feels more should be done and those responsible should be disciplined. "I can only imagine the horror and anger our veterans must be feeling after receiving this letter," Carnahan said. "They have every right to be angry. So am I." This is not the first time this year a hospital has been in hot water for not following proper procedures. In June, Palomar Hospital in San Diego, California, has sent certified letters to 3,400 patients who underwent colonoscopy and other similar procedures, informing the patients that there may be a potential of infection from items used and reused in the proceduresgitrdone have you ever been to a VA hospital? Resolved Question: How many Soldiers coming back from the Gulf or Afghanistan know that there is a black market for scarred skin?

I was a probationary policeman who was shot on guard duty, etc., etc. ~ I joined the Army. The day before I was deployed I made the mistake of showing someone who could not apparently be trusted my bullet wound and subsequent surgical scars. A person that person knew wanted these and the mobsters I shot back into were less than generous, or full of Christian ideals or empathy for the lawman that hurt and could potentially continue to hurt or even fry them for murder. If, I could demonstrate I am a lawman at all. They did a skin transplant, in a park, while sedating me only with the date rape drugs they had used on me to make me "compliant". I have an acquired disease as the result of this illegal medical procedure. And the local mental hospital has documented I am indeed not the former policeman I claim to be. Though I am not saying Al Qa`ida does this in the USA, I do maintain that they are here in the USA, selling opiates, and money laundering the proceeds of the sales of other criminal "financial instruments", such as marijuana. They have to keep up "moral" too. And they are not beyond murder, video taped as a snuff film, "just" as my "transplant" was at least partly recorded. What "better" torture? Form Al Qa`ida's sick point of view, what "better" insanity than to giggle collectively about giving VD to a US Patriot, and selling this to the internet video viewing population, so that while they take hit after hit of Al Qa`ida money laundered pot, they can drool over fellow Americans being maimed or even murdered? It happens. It happened to me. The State, Maine, is actively participating in this crime, by subsequent cover-up. Why? Dope money is political money, and politics here is dirty. If you pick the instrument, you could play any instrument you pick up as good as the world's best player and you'd never have to practice. If you choose the doctor, you'd have a medical degree (your med school of choice), be board certified and have complete prescription writing power and you'd be one of the best doctors/surgeons that ever lived. more

Resolved Question: Terrified to work! Please help!?

I've struggled with anxiety my whole life, I'm 19 and my husband is working for the same company I'm going to be working. Same shift/days/pay but different area of the building -obviously because we're married-. It's a very clean, bright, and looks to be upbeat, medical instruments factory. 5am-3:30pm Monday-Thursday. They ask people to work weekends, I don't think it's mandatory, but I'm scared they get upset if you don't. I don't want to feel tied down like I HAVE to work every weekend. In the interview the guy asked me how many weekends out of a month I'd be willing to work. I said "4" because I didn't want to look lazy... but I don't know if I can actually do it and stay sane! I have to work, we need the money and we're living with my parents right now because my husband just got out of the Army. I posted before, and got good advice... but it's coming up where I may be starting in the next couple weeks -suppose to start July 6th, but they may call me before that-. I just feel like I'm being FORCED to work. My husband's like "you dont have to keep this job if you dont like, but you do have to work". My whole life I've watched my dad work very hard and my mom stayed home with my brother and I... so that's what I'm used to seeing. Plus my mom is so negative. It's been really hard living here with her. She's always harping on us and in our business. I'm just afraid I'll be stuck in this job forever. That I won't fit in. That people will be cruel to me. That I won't learn quick enough and I'll be in trouble. That I won't get back to school. I have bad anxiety. I'd rather stay cooped up in my home all day than to deal with this.Lila, thanks for the advice. I don't think it's really the job. I just think it's working in general, so finding another would be more stress for me. I know it takes 2 people anymore, and I'm comfortable with that. Not loving it, but I realize it and have taken that in. I just don't want to hate life. I'm easily hurt by hurtful comments, I worry about every single thing, I just am so scared. I'm scared that I'm going to fall back into the loop of being deeply depressed and don't have an option but to do this. more

Resolved Question: How to not giggle through an interview?

I have an interview today for a production job at Stryker Instruments -medical tool factory-... I'm really nervous! I had a phone interview with a woman through the temp service I'm working with. She was so easy to talk to, yet I was still so nervous. She called me back and set me up for an interview with the actual company today, she warned me about giggling. I understood completely! I just don't know how to control it, it's my nerves. I have anxiety, so it's really hard for me to control nervous reactions when under pressure. Any advice? 10 pts to best advice! more

Resolved Question: ****Lying Pisces?****?

I'm really interested in someone and he happens to be a Pisces i asked my sister to ask him if he has a gf or not? He said that he has a lot of female friends but doesn't have time for a gf? My sister asked him why? he said he's in medical school studying and he lives all by him self in an apartment and he's always busy paying the rent, car insurance plus his mother is always their in his apartment he has NO privacy and every once a week he has to go home and visit his mother. however when I added him on facebook i saw that he wrote that he was in a relationship with someone. And that girl wrote messages like be mine and stuff like that, and i saw a group picture of him and his classmates and that girl was their standing next to him. And i also viewed that girls profile she put a picture of him playing an instrument and she was like around in the back? does this mean something or do you think he's just playing around on facebook with his female buddies. btw- according to our culture, this girl is a foreigner and his parents ALWAYS said that they will never let him have a foreigner as his gf. more

Resolved Question: How long until you fly solo PPL?

Ok I am only 16 I have 5.8 hours of flying which was broken up into 5 lessons. At 16 I know I am eligible to solo with a medical. My current flight instructor says the best pilots solo at about 25 hours (SOAKING). I've been speaking to "advocates" who neither gain or lose from just speaking the truth. These certain advocates are real time CFI's and Instrument instructors as well. He said his students solo'd in just 5 lessons! 5 lessons is about 5-7 hours but my current instructor says about 25-30. From all the instructors I have flown with (except my current primary instructor) they all said I am talented and pick up very fast on flying. Can someone or even a CFI tell me after how long people tend to Solo flight. Also what is the correct definition of "soaking." It feels like my current instructor is "soaking" me if all that makes sense. more

Voting Question: How is my report for English?

Its a four page report,,,,What spelling/gramatic changes need to be made??? Is it good and well written? What would you give me and why? When I graduate from Colleton County High School, I plan on attending Tennessee State University to obtain my Organic Chemistry and Pre-Medical Science bachelor’s degree. Then I plan to go to Vanderbilt School of Medicine to become a Cardiologist. A Cardiologist is a doctor who specializes in the heart. There are many different types of Cardiologist. They include: Non-Invasive Cardiologist, Invasive Cardiologist, Interventional Cardiologist, Cardiac Electro physiologist (EP), and Cardiac Surgeon. I plan on pursuing a profession as a Cardiac Surgeon. In order to become a Cardiac Surgeon you have to have a Bachelors degree in science (B.S.) and pass the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) to gain entry into a Medical School. The four years in medical school will be divided between two years in the class and two years undergoing Internships/Residency. Medical procedures, Medical terminology, and judgment are all covered in Medical School. Then to graduate Medical School you must take and pass the exit exam through American Board of Internal Medicine. Once you pass the exit exam you will attend approximately eight years of residency. This will include patient prep, vascular access, Coronary access, and surgeries. Then you have 2 years of fellowship. Fellowship is advanced training in the medical field you intend on pursuing. A Cardiac Surgeon must always be: organized, detailed, friendly, patient, have great motor skills, punctual, able to be on call, and willing to work forty- sixty hours per week. They may also have an assigned uniform by their hospital, office, or other employer. This uniform will be either a scrub or solid color cloth pants and shirt. You will also be required to where close toed shoes. Finally, during surgery you will have to where a Medicated dust masks to protect yourself as well as the patient. Since you will be constantly around patients and your co-workers is important to have good manners and carry yourself professionally. Being able to communicate to patients on a professional but understandable level is critical to this job. This can often be difficult but is necessary so patients can understand what is happening and how it can be cured. Non-Invasive Cardiologist, Invasive Cardiologist, Interventional Cardiologist, Cardiac Electro physiologist (EP), and Cardiac Surgeon are the main types of heart doctors. All Cardiologists are important and in some way linked to one another. The main difference between them all is advanced training to do different surgeries and treatments. A Non- Invasive Cardiologist does not do surgeries. On the contrary they try to prevent patients from having to get heart surgery. They will perform test to identify the hearts problem; if there problem can be cured without surgery they will prescribe medicines, diets, or alternative treatment methods. If it can’t, Non-Invasive Cardiologist will refer the patients to a an invasive Cardiologist or Cardiac Electro physiologist (EP) An Invasive Cardiologist uses diagnostic and therapeutic tools that are inserted directly in to the patient’s heart to correct heart disease. They also perform minor surgeries such as using stents to open clogged arteries. For bigger problems they will refer them to Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiac Electro physiologist (EP), or cardiac Surgeons. Interventional Cardiologist primarily deals with structural heart disease. Cardiac Catheterizations are a common procedure done by Interventional Cardiologists. Cardiac Catheterizations is when they insert instruments into a person’s heart to check how well it’s pumping. They also may do Balloon Angioplasty to open blockages with stents. When dealing with Interventional Cardiology you don’t have to deal with scar and intense pain. Next, Cardiac Electro physiologist (EP) uses bio-electrical impulses to control the pace of one’s heart. If one’s heart isn’t functioning properly it can cause a heart arrhythmia which is potentially deadly. Now with the founding of pacemakers this with medication and drug therapy helps with the problem. Lastly, Cardiac Surgeons perform major Cardiac surgeries on the heart and major blood vessels. Cardiac Surgeons open the chest and perform surgeries directly on the heart. There job is very rewarding when they can see a patient have an improved quality of life and regain mobility; but on the other hand there is a risk of an unsuccessful surgery so it can also be very upsetting . Cardiac Surgeons perform a wide array of heart surgeries. Coronary Artery Bypass, Angioplasty, Heart Valve Surgery, and Heart Transplant are a few of the many surgeries performed by Cardiac Surgeons. Coronary Artery Bypass (heart bypass) is a surgery done with your heart stopped. It uses one to five blood vessels contingent upon how many blockages there are to bypass my paper was to long...its a four page double spaced esssay more

Resolved Question: Can musicians who are primarily singers become Musical Therapists?

just discovered this career recently and I'm really considering it when I leave school! It says you don't need a medical degree, is this true? You only need a degree in music? I was going to go and get a bachelor in Music Theatre from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. Would this be fine, because you do learn a fair bit about music as well. I'm primarily a classically trained singer, but I have a pretty broad repertoire considering. I can play some piano a bit of saxophone but mainly a singer. Is this fine or do you have to be fairly skilled at a wide range of instruments? more

Resolved Question: "medical" device that measures your response to materials by putting them in jars and touching the jars?

I'm looking for the name of this instrument, it reads out with a needle like a gas gauge. Kind of like quakery, you put an material (like a medicine, or something you may be allergic to) into glass jars that you hold and it gives you a reading. So if your reading is "off" you cut the pill in half and try again, etc. Surely it just measures skin conductance like an E-meter but I am still curious. A friend had it done years ago by a "new age" doctor and I am just curious. more

Voting Question: What type of girl should I go for?

Please don't take anything I say as bragging or anything. I actually dislike it very much. I'm an intelligent guy at school and other things. I'm planning on going the medical route after I'm done high-school. I have already taken a class in university in physics, though. I know quite a lot about computers and I'm on the internet regularly. I play guitar, piano, bass, uke, saxophone and other instruments. I listen to three main types of music (I have a wide range, though), indie, instrumental and japanese-rock/pop. I'm the type of guy who makes quite a lot of jokes, but nothing vulgar. I'm nice with everyone, even if some try to treat me wrong. I like having a debate because it's something that stimulates your brain, but I don't like it when it goes overboard and the other person doesn't acknowledge being wrong. When I believe I am proven wrong, I admit it. I also trust science quite a lot, so I need facts if something is trying to be put in my face. Other things I could say is that I love many things about Japan and once I'm done university, I might start traveling (not just to Japan). I dislike history, but I don't mind hearing about current culture. FAST QUESTION: Anyways, it's like I have a feeling that I need to be with someone who is intelligent and rational. Is it best that I go with someone similar to me or not? I've only went out with girls who like the same things as me, but aren't as intelligent or don't show it. For some reason, it feels like I'm off balance and I need someone independent who's at the same level as me and can think constructively. Is it supposed to be like that or not? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Doctor vs. Marine Biologist vs. Musician?

I've done alot of research but still can't figure out which one I want to do (not limited to these). Resolved Question: Why does my two central incisors on my upper teeth hurts when I drink or eat cold foods?

I usually drink water by putting lots of ice cubes in it, it's just so refreshing, but lately it hurts! It was like when a dentist is cleaning your upper teeth (you know what it feels like) using the scary grinding-like dental instrument, but that was a long time ago and I don't think it's because of that. Anyway, it's not really THAT painful, but the pain is just like the cleaning part (with the scary tool) only lighter, but it's irritating me. Is there an easy treatment for this without going to the dentist? Like, some medical toothpaste to cure it perhaps? Any suggestions? Cause, my parents are so busy (and me too) and I/we don't have time to visit the dentist (and to tell you the truth: I'm scared) Or maybe, a dentist could help me with this? (My aunt is a dentist, but she's far away...like in another country, and to call her...it's expensive) more
