During the first 40 days of gestation, all the body parts and organs are completely, though consecutively formed. We can notice in Figure 2.1 that the organs begin to be formed, assembled, and the fetus appears twisted. The Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him), has informed us in a hadeeth that: In every one of you, all components of your creation are gathered together in your mothers womb by 40 days. (Narrated in Saheeh Muslim and Al-Bukhaari In another Hadeeth, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When forty-two nights have passed over the drop (nutfah), Allah sends an angel to it, who shapes it and makes its ears, eyes, skin, flesh and bones. Then he says, O Lord, is it male or female? and your Lord decides what he wishes. (Muslim). Professor Simpson studied these two hadeeths extensively, noting that the first 40 days constitute a clearly distinguishable stage of embryo genesis. He was particularly impressed by the absolute precision and accuracy of those hadeeths. Then during one of the conferences which he attended he gave the following opinion: "So that the two hadeeths that have been noted can provide us with a specific time table for the main embryological development before 40 days. Again, the point had been made repeatedly by other speakers this morning that these hadeeths could not have been obtained on the basis of the scientific knowledge that was available at the time of their recording." Professor Simpson says that religion can successfully guide the pursuit of knowledge. The West, as we said, has rejected this. Here is an American scientist who says that religion, namely Islam, can achieve this with success. By analogy, if you go to a factory and have with you the operation manual of the factory, then you will be able to easily understand the kind of operation that goes on in that factory, thanks to that manual by the factory designer and builder. If you do not have this manual with you, chances are much less that you will have good understanding of the various processes there. Professor Simpson said: "It follows, I think, that not only is there no conflict between genetics and religion, but in fact religion can guide science by adding revelation to some traditional scientific approaches. That there exist statements in the Qur'aan shown by science to be valid, which supports knowledge in the Qur'aan having been derived from Allah." This is true. Certainly, the Muslims can lead the way in the pursuit of knowledge and that they can accord knowledge in its proper status. Moreover, Muslims know how to use knowledge as a proof of the existence of Allah, May Allah be Exalted and Glorified, and to affirm the Messenger ship of Muhammad (peace be upon him The Qur'aan which was revealed 14 centuries ago mentioned facts that are only recently discovered by proven scientists. This proves without doubt that the Qur'aan must be the literal word of Allah, revealed by Him to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and it also proves that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is truly a Messenger and Prophet sent by Allah. It is beyond reason that anyone fourteen hundred years ago would have known these facts discovered or proven very recently with advanced equipment and sophisticated methods. http://www.thisistruth.org moreVoting Question: can you please help me with my physical science?
I am busy with a project. This is the topic i have to do a presentation on: 1) Safety restraint systems: unsafe driving practices cause thousands of fatalities every year. Car manufacturers attempt to help the situation by installing safety systems in their cars to reduce injuries and fatalities. Research THREE of the systems and demonstrate their effectiveness and explain their operation using scientific principals using models or simulations. now i need help with the following: design plan - this is logical and ordered way you need to test your hypothesis or obtain information on the topic. -list and describe all steps, equipment etc. that are needed. Variables and those involved to be tested must be described. -outline experimental procedures to test variables. -include diagrams where appropriate. -outline procedures for measuring, analyzing, gathering and interpreting data. progress report -detailed reference of research material used -record of planning -record of all rough and experimental results -references, dates, interviews, books etc moreResolved Question: Have you ever tried any Ghost Hunters style investigations yourself?
I was watching ghost hunters the other day, and a lot of the equipment they use is very high tech and I'd imagine very expensive. But a lot of it is simple enough, recorders, night vision cameras etc. What I'm wondering is, have you ever tried anything like that yourself and what were your results? I don't mean ouija boards or anything like that, the scientific stuff. moreVoting Question: Where can I purchase this Fight Science-1 DVD?
Here is the last question I posed: I'm looking for a DVD of a program that I watched years ago. I thought it was "Fight Science", but I just bought it, and that's not it. This one uses the electronic/scientific equipment to assess martial art strikes, like the one I'm looking for does, but the one I'm looking for looked at different moves from different martial art styles. The one I just bought (titled "Fight Science", from National Geographic), does not do that. It looks at MMA, self-defense, and special ops. Interesting, but not the program I'm looking for (and the one I promised many people we would watch this coming Friday night!) ---------------------- And the best answer: There are 2 Fight Science specials, the first one contains Kung fu, Karate, TKD, BJJ, Muay Thai, etc. The second special (which you own) is for Special ops, etc. Here's Fight Science 1 from veoh.com http://www.veoh.com/search/videos/q/fight+science#watch%3Dv11458698bPmaNjA -------------------------------- But now where can I BUY the Fight Science 1 DVD? I really need it for this Friday - for about 80 people expecting it! Supposed to show it on a big screen TV. Can I buy it from that website, and I'm just not seeing that?? Thanks! moreResolved Question: DVD like "Fight Science", but compares different martial arts?

If your best friend went on Yahoo!Answers under your name and posted a really stupid question? How would you feel? I'm outraged! I've always believed in posting honest questions and in turn give people honest answers. And - at the time - I didn't mind sharing my personal sign in details with my friend cause I've known her since kindergarten but now I regret it. I can't believe she asked such a fictional question and thought she'd get away with it! I deleted it as soon as I saw it on my profile questions but I think it already had several answers by then. Most people who answered did not believe it since it wasn't true anyway but I still feel like she scarred my reputation. If anyone answered to the question that was basically about a girl who gave exam answers to grade 10 and 12 students by using all sorts of scientific equipment - I'm sorry - I know it's not true and I'm going to 'kill' my friend! Doesn't she have a conscience? Do you think I should change my profile/details? Do I have a right to be mad or am I just overeacting like she says? moreResolved Question: Does anyone have scientific evidence to disprove this?
[Please Note: There has been much debate whether this is real or not. We are not saying it is real or not but we feel it is important enough to post it and let you the reader decide.] These details are from the translation of an article in a Finnish newspaper named 'Ammennusatia'. A geological group who drilled a hole about 14.4 kilometers deep in the crust of the earth are saying that they heard human screams. Screams have been heard from the condemned souls from earth's deepest hole. Terrified scientists are afraid they have let loose the evil powers of hell up to the earth's surface. 'The information we are gathering is so surprising, that we are sincerely afraid of what we might find down there,' stated Dr Azzacov, the manager of the project in remote Siberia. 'The second surprise was the high temperature they discovered in the earth's center. 'The calculations indicate the given temperature was about 1,100 degrees Celsius, or over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit,' Azzacov pointed out. 'This is far more then we expected. It seems almost like an inferno of fire is brutally going on in the center of the earth. 'The last discovery was nevertheless the most shocking to our ears, so much so that the scientists are afraid to continue the project. We tried to listen to the earth's movements at certain intervals with supersensitive microphones, which were let down through the hole. What we heard turned those logically thinking scientists into a trembling ruins. It was a sometimes a weak, but high pitched sound which we thought to be coming from our own equipment,' explained Dr Azzacov. 'But after some adjustments we comprehended that indeed the sound came from the earth's interior. We could hardly believe our own ears. We heard a human voice, screaming in pain. Even though one voice was discernible, we could hear thousands, perhaps millions, in the background, of suffering souls screaming. After this ghastly discovery, about half of the scientists quit because of fear. Hopefully, that which is down there will stay there,' Dr Azzacov added. 'What really unnerved the Soviets, apart from the voice recordings, was the appearance that same night of a fountainhead of luminous gas shooting up from the drill site, and out of the midst of this incandescent cloud pillar a brilliant being with bat wings revealed itself with the words (in Russian): 'I have conquered,' emblazoned against the dark Siberian sky. 'The incident was absolutely unreal; the Soviets cried out in terror,' says Mr. Nummedal. Later that night, he saw ambulance crews circulating in the community. A driver he knew told him that they had been told to sedate everybody with a medication known to erase short term memory. The Soviets use this drug in the treatment of shock victims. * * * * * * * "As a communist I don’t believe in heaven or the Bible but as a scientist I now believe in hell," said Dr. Azzacove. "Needless to say we were shocked to make such a discovery. But we know what we saw and we know what we heard. And we are absolutely convinced that we drilled through the gates of Hell!" Dr. Azzacove continued, ". . .the drill suddenly began to rotate wildly, indicating that we had reached a large empty pocket or cavern. Temperature sensors showed a dramatic increase in heat to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit." "We lowered a microphone, designed to detect the sounds of plate movements down the shaft. But instead of plate movements we heard a human voice screaming in pain! At first we thought the sound was coming from our own equipment." "But when we made adjustments our worst suspicions were confirmed. The screams weren’t those of a single human, they were the screams of millions of humans! To hear their recording go to YouTubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7f4Qngdfkog http://www.amightywind.com/hell/aboutsounds.htm There has been a lot of claims that hell is in the center of the Earth. I myself being a believer and also having done research on near death experiences w/ witnesses stating it is the center of the Earth. To hear support claims on theory of hell in center of earthhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mODv0HXn9bU I could post more but I'm quite sure if anyone wants to follow up we have nifty google to use as a resource for more support on hell being in the center of the earth. You can find more articles and testimonies in regards to thisFor the record, I checked the articles w/ claims against this and they have no evidence to disprove it. It just states that the person who researched it got a phone call saying it was not real. That does not disprove this at all. So when you find a REAL article that proves it is a legend please feel free to post. moreResolved Question: I need physical science help, Can someone please help me?

Are there any mistakes in my research paper??? Could i reword things to make it smoother?? Hunter Santiago Mrs. Malone English II May 5, 2010 Radiation Therapist In the United States, approximately 3,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each day. These individuals get their whole life spanned out on a timeline; one that includes their death. Few things can be done to help these people whose only hope is for hope itself. Radiation therapy is one of the few things these desperate people hope for. This, in part, is one of the many reasons why I chose a career in radiation therapy. Radiation therapy falls under the Health Science cluster, which also includes doctors, surgeons, and pharmacists. According to my Kuder assessment results, I show very promising amounts of interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics region of the interest inventory. Kuder also informed me of my high skill foundation that I have already begun to lay in the Health Science cluster where my career as a radiation therapist stands. My interests and my skills aren’t the exact equivalents of one another; they can be easily aligned given that I will gain experience in the field of health technology to operate the needed equipment. While working with Kuder, I also received insight on which work values mean the most to me as well as the least. It has come to my attention that I value Security in my occupation above all else, alongside Co-Workers and Challenge. A career in radiation therapy, no doubt, offers all three and many more. Because of the increasingly large number of people diagnosed with cancer each day, radiation therapists will be in high demand to meet the needs of the diagnosed patients. Income is on the bottom of my importance list, while lifestyle is closer to the top. I would prefer to maintain a social lifestyle with me friends and fellow co-workers and still obtain the job I’ve always dreamt of. Regardless, my career in radiation therapy will definitely support any lifestyle of my choosing. (Kuder) A radiation therapist is a valuable member of a cancer treatment team who delivers radiation treatments to patients, helps construct treatment plans, and works with cancer patients and their families. (Adams) A radiation therapist also uses radiation to treat cancer in the body through a process known as radiation therapy. During radiation therapy, a Linear Accelerator is used to direct x-ray or gamma ray beams to the cancerous areas in the body. This radiation causes cancer cells to die, and eventually shrinks tumors. Employers usually require applicants for this job to have an associate or a bachelor’s degree in a radiation therapy program. These programs include core courses about radiation therapy procedures and the scientific theories behind them. In addition to these core courses, additional courses on human anatomy, physiology, physics, algebra, precalculus, writing, public speaking, computer science, and research methodology are also included in the programs. In May 2008, wages in the radiation therapy field averaged about $72,910. The lowest ten percent earned less than $47,910, while the highest ten percent earned more than $104,350. First-year radiation therapists earn up to $28.49 an hour, while people with at least one year experience can earn up to $30.08 an hour. Furthermore, someone with at least ten years on their belt (or lab coat in this case) can earn as much as $39.11 per hour, averaging to about $81,348 a year. (Occupational Outlook Handbook) Work for a radiation therapist would occur in any hospital around the world that offers radiation therapy as part of its cancer treatment. The usual work hours of a radiation therapist are from 7:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Radiation therapists may be called in on weekends as well as during the night. There are many opportunities for advancement as a radiation therapist. These advancements are centered mainly around radiologic technology and eventually include operating an entire radiology department in a hospital, or becoming a radiologic technology researcher. In the future, the plea for radiation therapists will grow at extreme rates given that 1.5 million people will continue to be diagnosed with cancer as was the case in 2009. As with all medical occupations, the demands will always continue to increase along with the complexity of medical technology. As a high school sophomore, I will land this job by graduating at the top of my class and attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville. There, I will major in radiology with a minor in oncology. I will again graduate at the top of my class. In the next fifteen years, I will be a certified radiation therapist in the state of Tennessee and hopefully continue my education in a California university. Becoming a radiation therapist will mean the world to me. I will be allowed to help cancer patients lead longer lives and gi moreResolved Question: Please help me in physical science!!!!!!?

Research: chloroplasts are the site of photosynthesis. chlorophyll allows the cell to get energy from light. its a series of chemical reactions. REACTANTS are obtained from the enviornment...(im using water...hot/cold). once you get products the cell must convert the sugar to another form of energy which is ATP. I keep hearing that "there's no proof that God exists." So what are we talking about here, tangibility? And what exact type of tangibility are we seeking? There are the five senses on the human, there are the things that scientific instruments can measure, and then there are things for which we only have idea there is evidence of (such as dark matter). Why isn't there tangibility in what is called a spiritual experience? Do you deny the existence of such things as spirits? This is hard for me to understand. Why can't high-powered well-funded brilliant scientists create one little living thing using all the equipment and resources they have? Yet it is thought to have come together by itself through chance. From chaos to order. But the most brilliant minds can't create one living thing starting from scratch. They will never be able to because it takes a spirit to make something alive. It sounds to me that the "logical and scientific mind" is trying to compare apples and oranges. Do you not know the concept of faith? and why it is used by God instead of giving everything to us on a silver platter with no effort or change? Why do you insist that things be done your way, don't you acknowledge not everything fits one model? Is it so hard to understand that spiritual is different than temporal? It's a completely different discipline of thought, it doesn't fit into the temporal model. It was never supposed to. Why must we insist that it does? It doesn't run by the same rules, so why can't we form hypothesis within the context of its own rules and then test them using the same? This kind of stuff is done all the time in academia, but not with spiritual. I wonder why. Sorry for ranting, but I thought it better that you should know my mind so you can answer my question more fully.Thank you all for sincere well thought out answers. However didn't global warming start 20,000 years ago?
A global warming scam would mean that for the last 20,000 years since the Last Glacial Maximum the perpetuators of this 20,000 year scam would have caused the melting of the extensive ice sheets that were covering large parts of the North American and Eurasian continents. Periods of time called ice ages have happened several times in the earth's past. However (even without the help of mankind) periods of global warming (often called Interglacials) are proven to be eras where the global temperature has a general warming trend between periods called "ice ages". The last "ice age" refers to the most recent colder period that peaked at the Last Glacial Maximum approximately 20,000 years ago. During that period extensive ice sheets lay over large parts of the North American and Eurasian continents. Hence called ice ages because there were predictably periods of time where the earth had more ice coverage than today (for instance). Therefore in the history of the earth there were periods of time with hotter temperatures and other periods of time where it was colder (now pay attention "global warming" 101 is almost over). A period of time where there is a general warming trend between ice ages can be called a period of "global warming". Since we have had so far a general warming trend now for about 20,000 years, in order to prove we are really cooling now and heading into a new ice age you need to prove more than a few instances where we have cooled more one year or another (or even a decade or so) out of 20,000 years. The little ice age ended (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age a period extending from the 16th to the 19th centuries) and transferred to general warming trend again. Using the graph at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Holocene_Temperature_Variations.png … shows we have been warming since the little ice age ended. Since the only really reliable data is from timtables where modern scientific equipment could be used to measure accurate worldwide temperatures, only the last portion of the graph can be considered very reliable. Also according to the graph the variation of highest warming to lowest cooling in the last 10,000 is between the -.5 °C mark at around the 10,000 year mark to a high of close to +.25 °C mark at around the 7,500 year mark. Most of the rest of it shows a general variation between 0 and -.5 °C , with a warming trend near the present time. Instead of denying that there is a problem.mark Thanks for your encouragement Thare are some deniers that have just jumped on the denier bandwagon without considering the real fact that we are in an interglacial period and even though there may easily be more ice ages in the earth's future. We are not in a real ice age now.MTRstudent Thanks for your answer, and links, my problem is tyring to figure out how there are so many deniers who claim there is no such thing as global warming. How they can deny that is beyond my understanding.Walaka F I am of the AWG attitude , but for this question I didn't want to get into that part of the issue.AGW not AWGRomeo This graph shows less than 1 °C change in about 7,500 years. You need to get over that being such a big deal. This does not mean we are going back to ice age conditions. Deniers like you who think we are actually going back into ice age conditions are the ones believing a fallacy. moreVoting Question: Creationists, which scientific dating methods are wrong..?
Biologists actually have at their disposal several independent ways of looking at the history of life - not only from the order of fossils in the rocks, but also through phylogenetic trees. *Phylogenetic trees are the family trees of particular groups of plants or animals, showing how all the species relate to each other. *Phylogenetic trees are drawn up mathematically, using lists of morphological (external form) or molecular (gene sequence) characters. *Modern phylogenetic trees have no input from stratigraphy, so they can be used in a broad way to make comparisons between tree shape and stratigraphy. *The overwhelming majority of test cases show good agreement, so the fossil record tells the same story as the molecules enclosed in living organisms. The discovery of means for absolute dating in the early 1900s was a huge advance. The methods are all based on radioactive decay: •Certain naturally occurring elements are radioactive, and they decay, or break down, at predictable rates. •Chemists measure the half-life of such elements, i.e., the time it takes for half of the radioactive parent element to break down to the stable daughter element. Sometimes, one isotope, or naturally occurring form, of an element decays into another, more stable form of the same element. •By comparing the proportions of parent to daughter element in a rock sample, and knowing the half-life, the age can be calculated. Scientists can use different chemicals for absolute dating: *The best-known absolute dating technique is carbon-14 dating, which archaeologists prefer to use. However, the half-life of carbon-14 is only 5730 years, so the method cannot be used for materials older than about 70,000 years. *Radiometric dating involves the use of isotope series, such as rubidium/strontium, thorium/lead, potassium/argon, argon/argon, or uranium/lead, all of which have very long half-lives, ranging from 0.7 to 48.6 billion years. Subtle differences in the relative proportions of the two isotopes can give good dates for rocks of any age. Every few years, new geologic time scales are published, providing the latest dates for major time lines. Older dates may change by a few million years up and down, but younger dates are stable. For example, it has been known since the 1960s that the famous Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary, the line marking the end of the dinosaurs, was 65 million years old. Repeated recalibrations and retests, using ever more sophisticated techniques and equipment, cannot shift that date. It is accurate to within a few thousand years. With modern, extremely precise, methods, error bars are often only 1% or so. So, creationists, are you able to highlite where there are flaws in modern dating techniques, or where they are wrong..? Salam to all. Your Body receives a huge amount of Electromagnetic waves daily! You get these Electromagnetic waves through the Electrical Equipments that you use and the various equipments which you can not leave! Also, through the electrical lights which can not be switched off in certain cases for even an hour! You are a source which receives huge amounts of Electromagnetic waves! In other words, you are charged with electromagnetic waves without realizing it! You have headache! You feel uncomfortable! Laziness, in action and pain in different places! Do not forget this when you feel some of these symptoms! What is the solution from all this??!! A non Muslim Scientist (From Europe) made a research from which he concluded that the best way for the body to remove the positive Electromagnetic charges which hurts the body is: • By putting your forehead on the ground more than once, so that the ground will discharge the positive harmful Electromagnetic charges! • This is similar to the grounding of the buildings where any positive electrical signals (Like thunders) would be discharged through the ground. • So, put your forehead on the ground to discharge the positive electrical signals! What makes this research more amazing is that: • The best is to put your forehead on the sand It becomes more amazing that: And • The best way is to put your forehead on the ground while you are positioned to the centre of the Earth! Since you will be able to discharge the Electromagnetic signals in a better and more efficient way! And you will be amazed when you know that Mecca is scientifically proven to be the centre of the Earth! And that Kaa’ba is the exact centre of the Earth! So, “Prostration” in your prayers is: • The best way to discharge the harmful electromagnetic signals from your body! • It is also the ideal way to be very close from the Almighty who created this universe in such a creative way! Allah Almighty will always ask us to do things because they are helpful and useful for us! There are cases when we won’t know the reason for a certain act, but sooner or later, you might be able to find the reason! In any case, you should trust the Almighty Allah and know that whatever you do for Him, is the best for you! We do not prostrate to discharge the electromagnetic waves, but to obey the Almighty Allah! We trust that in His commands, there is always a wisdom! Our trust is because He is the Creator, He knows everything! However, since a scientific reason is available, it was essential to show it to the people so that they can see that whatever Muslims do, is good for them! Please Star the Q so others can see it ,jazakum Allah kheir moreResolved Question: Was there anything in Obamas State of The Union speech that really got you excited?
Yes another long question from me ... Obama just finished his first State of the Union Address. I felt it was bland, unemotional (even though he told countless American stories that allegedly caused him to stay awake at night), and it seemed disingenuous and hollow. Of course his promises of creating jobs and making jobs the number one focus is good news even though this is an issue that should have been the major focus to begin with in 2009. He made sure to promote his administration's supposed creation and saving of a couple million jobs despite the loss of 7 million jobs nation wide. He stated he wants a Jobs Bill on his desk without delay! So we could have lost 9 million jobs...whew I feel better! He spoke of the 95% of Americans receiving tax cuts last year...and the money recovered from the bank bailouts (by the way that was under Bush). He proposed using the 30 Billion recovered from the bailout to the banks to extend credit to help small businesses to stay afloat.....Wait a minute .....didn't we just recover that money from the banks? He spoke of eliminating all capitol gains on small businesses and providing tax incentives to allow them to invest in new equipment and hiring new employees. He said we have to put Americans to work today on tomorrow's infrastructure. Of course he made sure to throw in the state of the country that he inherited....before he ever walked in the door! I would expect nothing less from Obama! Tomorrow's infrastructure included drilling off shore, building safe, clean nuclear plants, creating more jobs in the process. Then he transitioned into the Cap and Trade that he wants it passed. Despite the scientific findings that some agree with. Doubling our exports over 5 years, Launching a National Export Initiative and seeking new markets aggressively. Investing more in education (even though we are way behind other countries who spend a lot less) and skills in our nation etc... Regarding the health care bill/reform he stated that we are closer than ever before and we need to pass this. Again the stories of those without health care or pre-existing conditions. He spoke of holding insurance companies accountable and as usual Pharmaceutical companies are not included in that reform even though they are one of the largest contributors to the health care cost and issues. The democrats stood up gleefully clapping and hanging on his every word. The republicans stoic in response to their continued desire to push through a bill that over 70% of American do not want and we know will end the the greatest health care system in the world if the government gets involved. Knowing full well the democrats and the administration are disconnected from the American people. 2011 will bring a spending freeze on everything other than National Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. He stated "If I have to enforce this discipline by veto I will" stating they would go through the budget line by line and program by program and enforcing the Pay as You Go Bill. My question is why wait till 2011? After all 43 cents on every dollar spent by the government is borrowed! Only about 10% of his speech was dedicated to the war on terror. He also recommitted to the war in Iraq ending and the troops coming home in August this year and increased security due to the Christmas bomber. He stated we must meet our responsibility of the citizens who sent us here. We face more than a deficit of trust, there are deep and corrosive doubts about how Washington works. We must do our work openly and give people what they deserve. He also stated that he wants the Congress to put all earmarks on a website so people can see them prior to any vote, again promising transparency that has been absent this past year despite campaign promises. Overall the speech was full of statements meant to inspire yet they were flat, he was lecturing, talking down to the republicans, all the while acting out the part of the candidate Obama on the campaign trail who deeply cares about the American people and the Constitution. He seemed sarcastic and unprofessional in his rhetoric. Certainly not the type of address we have come to expect form a President of the United States. I am sure I missed a few minor details in this recap. Did he make a few strides in the right direction? Of course....but I doubt it was as genuine as one would expect. My assessment?....I think it was an effort to make the democrats look good in an election year especially after the Massachusetts Miracle of new Senator Scott Brown creating a major upset! I believe only time will tell how genuine this administration is but after what we have witnessed this past year.... I wouldn't hold my breath! moreResolved Question: Really Easy Chemistry Questions- EASY 10 POINTS-----?

We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech, suspended thing, and blood clot), then We made the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed-like substance)...[Noble Quran 23:12-14] Literally the Arabic word alaqah has 3 meanings: leech suspended thing blood clot 1. "In comparing a leech to the embryo at the alaqah stage, we find similarity between the two." [The Developing Human p.8]. "Also, the embryo as this stage obtains nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to the leech which feeds on the blood of others." [Human Development as Described in Quran and Sunnah p.36]. 2. The second meaning of the word alaqah is 'suspended thing'. The suspension of the embryo, during the alaqah stage, in the womb of the mother very appropriately fits this description. 3. The third meaning of the word alaqah is 'blood clot'. We find that the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs during the alaqah stage is similar to that of a blood clot. This is due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo during this stage. Also during this stage the blood in the embryo does not circulate until the end of the third week. So the embryo at this stage is like a clot of blood. By examining a diagram of the primitive cardiovascular system in an embryo during the alaqah stage we would notice the external appearance of the embryo and its sacs is similar to that of a blood clot due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood present in the embryo [The Developing Human, p. 65] So the three meanings of the word alaqah correspond accurately to the descriptions of the embryo at the alaqah stage. The next stage mentioned in the verse is the mudghah stage. The Arabic word mudghah means "chewed-like substance." If one were to take a piece of gum and chew it in his mouth, and then compare it with the embryo at the mudghah stage, we would conclude that they would be almost identical because of the somites at the back of the embryo that 'somewhat resemble teeth marks in a chewed substance.' How could Muhammad (peace be upon him) have possibly known all this 1,400 years ago when scientists have only recently discovered this using advanced equipment and powerful microscopes which did not exist at that time? Hamm and Leeuwenhoek were the first scientists to observe human sperm cells using an improved microscope in 1677 A.D. (more than 1,000 years after Muhammad, peace be upon him]. They mistakenly thought that the sperm cell contained a miniature preformed human being that grew when it was deposited in the female genital tract [The Developing Human, p.9] Professor Keith Moore is one of the world's prominent scientists in the fields of anatomy and embryology and is the author of the book entitled the "Developing Human", which has been translated into eight languages. He has directed many international associations, such as the Canadian and American Association of Anatomists and the Council of the Union of Biological Sciences. In 1981, during the Seventh Medical Conference in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Professor Moore said; "It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Quran about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God, or Allah, because almost all of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have been the messenger of God, or Allah [The reference for this statement is on 'This is the Truth' (video tape). For a copy of this video tape please contact us]. Consequently, Professor Moore was asked the following question, "Does this mean that you believe that the Quran is the Word of God?" He replied; "I find no difficulty in accepting this." During one conference, Professor Moore stated, "... because the stagein of human embryos is complex, owing to the continuous process of change during development, it is proposed that a new system of classification could be developed using the terms mentioned in the Quran and the Sunnah (sayings of Muhammad, peace be upon him). The proposed system is simple, comprehensive, and conforms with present embryological knowledge. The intensive studies of the Quran and Hadith (reliably transmitted sayings and reports of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) in the last four years have revealed a system of classifying human embryos that is amazing since it was recorded in the 7th century A.D. Just by looking at the miracles in it once can obviously tell Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known that our atmosphere is made up of seven layers? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known in detail the various stages of development from which an embryo grows into a baby and then enters the world from inside his mother? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known that the universe is "steadily expanding," as the Qur'an puts it, when modern scientists have only in recent decades put forward the idea of the "Big Bang"? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known about the fact that each individual's fingertips are absolutely unique, when we have only discovered this fact recently, using modern technology and modern scientific equipment? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known about the role of one of Pharaoh's most prominent aids, Haman, when the details of hieroglyphic translation were only discovered two centuries ago? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known that the word "Pharaoh" was only used from the 14th century B.C. and not before, as the Old Testament erroneously claims? Could anyone in 7th century Arabia have known about Ubar and Iram's Pillars, which were only discovered in recent decades via the use of NASA satellite photographs? The only answer to these questions is as follows: the Qur'an is the Word of the Almighty Allah, the Originator of everything and the One Who encompasses everything with His knowledge. In one verse, Allah says, "If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it." (Qur'an, 4:82) Every piece of information the Qur'an contains reveals the secret miracles of this divine book. The human being is meant to hold fast to this Divine Book revealed by Allah and to receive it with an open heart as his one and only guide in life. In the Qur'an, Allah tells us the following: This Qur'an could never have been devised by any besides Allah. Rather it is confirmation of what came before it and an elucidation of the Book which contains no doubt from the Lord of all the worlds. Do they say, "He has invented it"? Say: "Then produce a sura like it and call on anyone you can besides Allah if you are telling the truth." (Qur'an, 10:37-38) And this is a Book We have sent down and blessed, so follow it and have fear of Allah so that hopefully you will gain mercy. (Qur'an, 6:155) moreResolved Question: Science Fair... I need a Science fair project for an 8th grader. It doesn't have to be hard, but it has to be not like something a 4th grader would do. Here are the guidelines: No animals all... sorry!!! Science Project Topics to Avoid Why Any topic that boils down to a simple preference or taste comparison. For example, "Which tastes better: Coke or Pepsi?" Such experiments don't involve the kinds of numerical measurements we want in a science fair project. They are more of a survey than an experiment. Most consumer product testing of the "Which is best?" type. This includes comparisons of popcorn, bubblegum, make-up, detergents, cleaning products, and paper towels. These projects only have scientific validity if the Investigator fully understands the science behind why the product works and applies that understanding to the experiment. While many consumer products are easy to use, the science behind them is often at the level of a graduate student in college. Any topic that requires people to recall things they did in the past. The data tends to be unreliable. Effect of colored light on plants Several people do this project at almost every science fair. You can be more creative! Effect of music or talking on plants Difficult to measure. Effect of running, music, video games, or almost anything on blood pressure The result is either obvious (the heart beats faster when you run) or difficult to measure with proper controls (the effect of music). Effect of color on memory, emotion, mood, taste, strength, etc. Highly subjective and difficult to measure. Any topic that requires measurements that will be extremely difficult to make or repeat, given your equipment. Without measurement, you can't do science. Graphology or handwriting analysis Questionable scientific validity. Astrology or ESP No scientific validity. Any topic that requires dangerous, hard to find, expensive, or illegal materials. Here is an example of science gone wrong. Do you really think that scientists in the AGW field do not pad their bank accounts by using faulty science and issues to promote. This is California and this is corruption. “None of this is real,” said the then CARB Scientific Review Panel (SRP) Chairman John Froines during a 1998 Scientific Review Board Meeting. During the discussions, panel chose to rely on bad data to craft regulations now killing small businesses throughout the state. The comment referred to the data being considered as the basis for developing rules that controlled levels of particulate matter from diesel exhaust. Though the numbers were unreal, the unintended consequences of CARB rule enforcement based on voodoo science is very real. During that 1998 meeting, a leading epidemiologist (whose study CARB was depending on to be the cornerstone of their eco-regulatory plans), argued with the panel and demanded that they not use the study from the scientist’s research group. It seems that the numbers generated from the job-based-exposure study wasn’t pertinent to the general public. The data that remained after the keystone study was removed proved nothing about the harmfulness of diesel exhaust. However, that 1998 CARB panel went ahead and initiated a process that has generated a series of regulations forcing companies that rely on diesel equipment throughout the state to comply or close its doors. Despite an array of legal protections designed to guard citizens from rulings based on politically-active “experts” and pleas of public health professionals throughout the nation to halt these draconian regulations because they have no basis in real science, CARB eco-bureaucrats are continuing their business-killing power juggernaut.jon, oh please, you do not know what you are talking about. For mighty Ant's sake..... http://www.sdnn.com/sandiego/2009-08-11/news/environment/leslie-eastman-californias-eco-bureaucrats-hurt-businesses Ant, I am personally involved in these issues and yes the SRP is an agenda driven panel of an agency in California. Froines is also a former Chicago Seven person and the activism is well known. Ant, please don't comment on issues you know nothing about. Grow up and move to the outback if you cannot.Ant, you are rambling again. If you debate any epidemiologist on this issue, you would be proven wrong as diesel emissions rate far below 8 other causes of respiratory problems, including road dust, fires, and other sources of PM2.5. Ant you are uneducated and uninformed and really I am concerned that you give information to the people on this site as some of your arguments are radical and uninformed like no other.Keith P. really! You obviously don't have a clue what is being talked about. Do you have any sort of education in epidemiology or are you just a professional surfer who reads blogs and that is all. The report by Dr. Garrick says his study cannot and should not be used by ARB as it doesn't reflect the causal effect on the population as a whole. The fact is the ratio used was 1.14 which in scientific terms means no causal effect to humans based on where one lives in California. Other studies in California this number was 1.04 and Keith P. I am going to leave it up to you the expert to tell everyone what this means. Please inform us. moreResolved Question: Did Collins program have a reliability improvement program ?
The simple improvement curve was Y =AXB which will produce a straight line on log-log paper where Y is the unit cost (hours/unit or $’s/unit), X is the unit number, A is a theoretical cost of the first unit (hours or $’s) and B is a line slope constant that is related to the rate of improvement [B is literally equal to ln(learning percent)/ln(2) where the learning percent = 100-(rate of improvement)]. For example if the first unit took 100 hours to complete (A=110) and if we had an improvement rate of 20% the learning percentage would be 80%, so that B = ln(1.00-0.20)/ln(2) and B= -0.32193. Thus we would expect production of the 2nd item would require 80 hours and the 4th item produced would require 64 hours, and so forth, as the production quantity doubles we shave 20% from the production time. Some typical learning curve slopes are described at the NASA Cost Estimating Website (NASA 2003) and the learning % varies from a low of 96% for raw materials to a high of 75% for repetitive electrical operations with most values around 80-90%. The plots have three different formats: 1) hours/unit or $/unit versus cumulative production, 2) cumulative (hours or $’s) versus cumulative production, or 3) cumulative average (hours or $’s) versus cumulative production. Learning curves were used extensively by General Electric, and a GE reliability engineer made log-log plots of cumulative MTBF versus cumulative time which gave a straight line for reliability issues (Duane 1964). Duane argued that all failure data should be used on complex electromechanical systems. He recommended the Y-axis should be Y = (cumulative failures)/(cumulative time) = KT-a where the value K is a constant which is dependent upon equipment complexity, design margins, and design objectives for reliability, the value for a » 0.5 with the expectations that some designs would be better (meaning a > 0.5) and some would be less (meaning a < 0.5) and T is cumulative time. Duane drew his conclusions from studying 5 different data sets and found remarkable similarly in patterns for the curves (meaning the line slopes were about the same). Duane also rearranged his equations and showed cumulative failures F = KT(1-a) which allowed forecasting of future failures based on past results. James Duane had a deterministic postulate for monitoring failures and failure rates of a complex system over time using a log-log plot with straight lines. At the US Army Material Systems Analysis Activity during the mid 1970’s Larry Crow converted Duane’s postulate into a mathematical and statistical proof via Weibull statistics in MIL-HDBK-189 (DOD 1981). The military handbook addressed: reliability growth-The positive improvement in a reliability parameter over a period of time due to changes in product design or the manufacturing process., and reliability growth management-The systematic planning for reliability achievement as a function of time and other resources, and controlling the ongoing rate of achievement by reallocation of resources based on comparisons between planned and assessed reliability values. The ultimate goal of the improvement program was to make reliability grow so as to meet the system reliability and performance requirements by managing the development program. The management effort required making reliability: 1) visible, and 2) a manageable characteristic. Reliability growth program required goals and forecast of progress. The failure data usually produced straight line segments on log-log plots with N(t) = ltb where N is the expected number of failures, l is the failure rate at time t = 1, t is cumulative time, and b is the line slope for cumulative failures versus cumulative time (and b = 1 - a from Duane’s equation). Scientific principles determine that failure data fit N(t) = ltb and thus failure data trends can produce a straight line on log-log paper. Data from maintenance failure databases on a log-log plot, will build a Crow/AMSAA relationship for finding the Y-axis intercept at t=1 for l and the slope of the line will define b changes in the programs. Thus future failures can be forecasted and cusps on the data trends will tell if the system is improving (failures are coming more slowly, b<1), deteriorating (failures are coming more quickly, b>1), or if the system is without improvement/deterioration (failures rates are unchanged, b»1). Recently AMSAA has updated the information from Military Handbook MIL-HDBK-189 and produced the AMSAA Reliability Growth Guide TR-652 (DOD 2000). Two excellent documents on the subject of reliability growth are: MIL-HDBK-189, Reliability Growth Management, 13 February 1981 Download from ASSIST Quick Search as a PDF file using the title for the search. 1.Imagine a space station has been built on Venus, and a pendulum is taken outside to determine the acceleration of gravity. The pendulum is a ball having mass m is connected by a strong string of length L to a pivot point and held in place in a vertical position. A wind exerting constant force of magnitude F is blowing from left to right. Venus has an extremely dense atmosphere, which consists mainly of carbon dioxide and a small amount of nitrogen. The winds near the surface of Venus are much slower than that on Earth. They actually move at only a few kilometers per hour (generally less than 2 m/s and with an average of 0.3 to 1.0 m/s), but due to the high density of the atmosphere at the surface, this is still enough to transport dust and small stones across the surface. (a) If the ball is released from rest, what is the maximum height H reached by the ball, as measured from its initial height? Check if your result is valid both for cases when 0 < H < L, and for L < H < 2L. (b) Compute the value of H using the values m = 2.00 kg, L = 2.00 m, and F = 14.7 N. The gravitational acceleration on Venus is measured to be 8.872 m/s2 (c) Using these same values, determine the equilibrium height of the ball. (d) Could the equilibrium height ever be larger than L? Explain. 2.13.A crate with scientific equipment slides down a curved frictionless side of lunar crater of the depth h, and then up along the other side which is an inclined plane. Read More’s heat goes unused by the algae and is sent back into the water based on the condition of the algae and the photosynthesis rate. This returned heat creates sound waves that can be measured and analyzed with special underwater equipment, Dubinsky explained. The strength of these returned sound waves are then used to determine the health and contamination levels of the algae and the surrounding water. A general gauge of algal growth is the daily darkening color as the cells multiply. A more accurate measure of growth can be made by comparing actual cell numbers with the previous day's count. The number of cells can be determined by studying a sample from a culture under a 400X microscope. The sample is placed on a special slide called a ... Read Morehemacytometer. These slides are available from scientific or medical supply stores and come with instructions. To use the hemacytometer, place a pipet filled with a sample from the culture tank against the "V" groove of the slide (a cover slip must be in place). Withdraw the pipet before the sample runs off the flat grid area, but not before the grid area is completely covered with the algal suspension. Wait about five minutes for the cells to drift onto the grid. The grid area resembles the pound symbol (#) inside a square border so that there are nine equal squares. Each of the four corner squares are further divided into 16 smaller squares. The total number of algal cells in all 16 small squares in the four corner areas (64 total small sqs.) are counted. Divide this number by four, for an average, and multiply by 10,000 (hemacytometer volume factor). The product is equal to the number of cells per mL in the sample. Motile algae like I. galbana, must be killed before counting. A weak toxin such as acetic acid or ethanol may be used (one drop into 20-30 mLs of algal sample). Dense cultures (>3 million) should be diluted 1:10 to facilitate counting and to reduce error. Remember to multiply by 10 (for a 10:l dilution) or by the appropriate correction factor if a different dilution is made. There are numerous other methods to quantify algal densities, however using a microscope and hemacytometer, will reveal the presence of biological contaminants. so what i'm really asking is what algae is the best and cheepest to grow and how can i take a laser and help grow them! Anyone who helps i give great props too! moreResolved Question: What did we learned from the two typhoon Ondoy & Peping?
This is my observation: 1. That the Philippine government is inutile and completely useless in time of disaster. You may say this is nature that is completely impossible to predict and comprehend, I agree but what if this is man-made disaster like war. Can the Philippines cope with it? We already know from previous history that the Philippines is prone to weather disturbances that is why in my previous question why not charge MMDA with a crime and now a news report stated that a billion peso weather early warning flood controlled is just rotting in one of the MMDA offices donated to the Philippines through a Japanese donor to be used obviously for giving signals to every town in cases they opened the flood gates of every dam situated in the affected area. But MMDA didn't used the equipment and abandoned it long time ago. Imagine a billion pesos once again just wasted in one of the bodega just like the billion of peso equipment bought by Comelec before for automation. Remembered this controversy with Mr. Abalos? That is why we should have accountability and transparency in our government. Those who neglect their responsibility should be charge in the court of law. Senator Miriam Santiago also came up with the idea to charge the Mayors of the affected area of negligence. But many Filipinos here do not believe in it, meron nga nagsabi rito sa question ko why not charge them. Puro daw ako putak. This is how lowly some Filipinos are. Meron pang sumasagot dito ng 'tae mo'. Imagine a forum like this, we should be expanding our horizon with every question or answer we ask or give. Parang iba pinabili lang ng suka and end up in the forum. Those private sector like ABS-CBN tv station through Sagip-Kapamilya is doing what the Philippine government should be doing for the people at large. We even asked the help of the US government for helicopters & trucks to delivered the goods to the far flung country side. Yet we hate the Americans for staying or doing business in our country. What kind of mentality we have? I conclude the US is our inseparable partners through our history. From Spanish-American war toWW2 to EDSA revolution and until now. 2. And since the global warming is a clear indication that the world is not getting better and will become much hotter why not harness the potentiality of the sunlight for our advantage. I suppose we all know the solar energy, it has been tested in some parts of the Philippines through the help of the Japanese scientific institution. So why not make the most of it by using it through cars and our own homes so that we would not be dependent on fossil fuels and make our air clean for the next generation. 3. Make the calamity fund solely distributed to the Mayors of each municipality but with responsibility and transparency clause. Once caught sleeping in their job or natutulog lagi sa pansitan they can be charge with a crime for making the money vanished into thin air. What we need are not magician in the government but competent leaders. 4. We are such a poor country, kelan nga ba tayo uunlad? I kept asking why and how but couldn't come up with a credible answer.
