Chronic Asthma Answers
Open Question: Why did he do these things?
I was in a relationship with a man for almost 2 years. The first year of our relationship was very happy. I'm not really sure what went wrong in the second year. The first thing that I know he did not like about me is that I suffer from long term chronic depression. During the relationship, I was actively working with a therapist and psychiatrist to help get me stable. When I would change medicines or have down days, I would try to talk to my ex about it. However, he said that he did not cause my depression and therefore should not have to listen to it. He would also tell me that I needed to go and find myself a therapist to become involved with. I never got that. I really just wanted to talk to him about how I felt on the medicines or after therapy but he wanted to shut me down. It got to the point where he did not allow me to express any sort of emotion but happy emotions. I tried very hard to swallow how I felt because I loved him so much, but sometimes it spilled over and we would fight.
When we fought, he would videotape me. This is something I truly do not get. Any ideas on why he did that? He would say, "look how mad u r!" But normally I would be BEGGING him to stay with me, so fearful that if he left my sanity would leave with him. I would be crying. My crying never affected him. He could upset me to the point I would literally become physically ill and he would do nothing but ask me to leave.
Then I got pregnant. He didn't believe I was pregnant. I miscarried. He did not go through the miscarriage with me because he refused to believe I had ever been pregnant. When we fought he would throw it up in my face. He once said, "you always make something up, just like you trying to say you had a miscarriage." I slapped him. It was wrong of me to slap him, I know. He told me that he watched his mom get beat up all during his childhood and he would not be a victim of physical abuse. I pointed out that he physically abused me by choking me - three times - and one of those times was while I was having an asthma attack. He tried to tell me his hands were on my chin during those times, not my neck. I remember the fact he tried to choke me, the fact that he told me, "if I wanted you dead, your trachea would be in the palm of my hand right now."
He would call the police on me at every opportunity. He had given me a key to his house, but if I didn't leave just when he told me to, he would call the police. Everytime we got into a fight he would say I was breaking some law and call the police. He would be like, you are stalking me, but I was over there visiting him before a fight ever began! Why is this man like that?
He finally just stopped speaking to me at all and I finally just let go. I'm still plagued by the questions above. If anyone can make sense of any of it, pls let me know.
moreOpen Question: Does this count as chronic cough? What might be the cause? how can i fix this?
So, basically I've been coughing a bunch for a little over a week, and I'm not sure how to stop it...or even why. it's especially persistent at night, when i'm in bed. It worries me a little only because I've never really get sick that often. I've been trying to wait it out and see if it's just a cold or something due to a recent chang inenvironment, but I can't help but worry a bit.
Here is the background. i'm from maryland but I've been away from home, working Key largo for the past 7 months. Before I returned home, I visited miami for a few days and did a lot more partying than I probably should have. I definitly intoxicated myself past a point that was good for me, and had a two day hangover because of it. (the reason i mention that is because i think that could have something to do with my cough...) Also, while I was there I stayed in a home where smoking was the norm, and there was some marijuana use going on there too. Personally, i did not smoke, but I was there in a smoke filled house. Anyway, About a week and a half ago I came home to maryland by airplane. I arrived at 2 am and when i woke up later that tday i had a whole ear, nose, throat, cough, thing goign on. I figured my body was just stressed from traveling and lack of regular sleep, and the past few days of very hard partying. I did take some sudafed which helped but didn't last very long. But it's been over a week now... all my other symptoms are gone, except for an occasional scratchy throat and my on gain off again constant coughing. It's not really so bad it affects my dailylife, but it is an annoyance. And it gets worse when i try to have a long conversation, or sing aloud a bunch (which I do alot)
I always had very mild asthma, but it was never bad enough that I ever had to do anything about it, like I've never used inhalers or taken any kind of meds for it, and it only ever surfaces at all in the winter anyway. but one of my thoughts was that maybe it finaly flared up a bit more like my mom and my sister. Another Idea I had was maybe i'm allergic to our cats, even though they didn't bother me a year ago when I lived here. But maybe i developed the allergy sionce i've been gone.
anyway, my plan at the moment is to wait a couple more days, try simple home remedies and see if it gets any better. (it has gotten somewhat better, but the past couple days have really leveled out and I don't think its so chronic anymore, but still slighty annoying) and if nothing changes then i'll visit a doctor. I'm trying to avoid the dr. because i don't have heath insurance at the moment, and I've never been a big fan of drs anyhow.
I guess my question is basically, what do you think is causing my cough? Do you think its serious? Or could be very serious? How long does a cold usually last...like, is mine lasting longer than it should? And any ideas how I can treat it myself at home?
Thanks for all your opinions and help!
moreOpen Question: Does sea air hurt asthma?
I live in Alaska. I do not have the money now, but I want to take one of the short cruises to see the whales, the ocean, the sea life. I went to Valdez once, and became ill from sinus & allergies, etc. It was damp and chilly. I have asthma and beginning emphysema. I have something else, also:
Not contagious ,maybe chronic costochondritis, sp.. I keep reinjuring myself by lifting or reaching up. Weird. Really hard blow to my chest which has never healed.
I do not know of anyone who has these conditions who was exposed to sea air. I am not in health care. .
When I was in Pensacola, I began having acute bronchitis every winter.
I do not know if it was the sea air. It then turned into chronic bronchitis.
I did not smoke all that time. I smoked off and on during periods of stress from being very poor. Cigarettes were very cheap then, cheaper than eating unless you like grease.. I am a stress eater of food. Crunch crunch.. I am not making excuses or explaining, neither is a crime. I smoked, then ate to quit smoking, then smoked to quit eating. Most people , like me, learn this behavior. Weight Watchers took care of this, but I cannot afford Weight Watchers, etc. Don't tell me that I have Inet, .I know I do.. I am human and must have human contacts. Inet will not pay for WW and a decent diet. This was not meant to be a gripe session.
I don't have to make excuses. As I said neither of these activities are illegal. I cannot and do not smoke. Quit smoking about six years ago for the last time. Have smoked or tried to smoke two cigarettes since. Death in the family. Confirmed my dedication to not smoking. Most of my life, I did not smoke. Really got hooked when I became alone after twenty years of marriage.
and had hardly any money as many suddenly alone women find themselves.
Then breathed second hand smoke on the job for seven and one half years,
three and one half years heavy. Couldn't do anything about it, no assistance.
Went home, not smoking, craved cigarettes. Oh well. Job hazard.
Back to my question. If sea air hurts asthma and bronchitis did you use inhalers, or take something like an oral medication, singulair or however it is spelled? Did you have problems. Is it common for sea air to do this.
It feels so good. Is it just the cool in the fall. Of course, I know cold damp air really hurts my chest and lungs. I know somewhat about people who
are confined and have these illnesses, but not much for those who get out and do things such as I mention, without 02, etc.
I can dream, can't I. There is also a railroad trip that I hear is wonderful.
I am not able to work, but I am not dead. Having some fun would improve my mental health, and probably everything else. I am 63. Not going to be able to work again. I have other health problems.
moreOpen Question: Chronic/persistent cough in 3year old?
My daughter will be three in October '10. She began having a persistent cough at around 2. It's not severe enough to make her gag or throw up, and she's never had a fever with the cough unless she got sick. Mostly she coughs at night, but there is hardly ever nose/throat drainage or runny noses. The cough is dry and happens during the day and night. I know it's not pertussis since there is no whooping but it does wake her occasionally. I really would like to narrow it down to some possibilities before I see the doctor. I know it's possible allergies/asthma or both. I've also noticed since the cough began that she either snores or has louder breathing. I have had severe allergies and problems with drainage my whole life so it's possible she is prone to it, and we do have cats. I feel terrible and was a smoker during pregnancy and after. There are so many factors but I want to try and find useful information to find the right way to help this cough either end or at least not wake her when she does cough chronically at night. Help please!BTW I have taken her to the doctor multiple times. And if you don't know me then refrain from making judgment about me or my life. Yeah I smoked, more than 50% of women who smoke continue to do so during a pregnancy, and especially since ob/gyn's say NOT to quit right away. We live in Phx, AZ btw where summer is No where near cold and the house doesn't stay cold.
And not everyone can take their kids to see a specialist, she has seen her pediatrician so many times about it that he tells me I worry too much. That it's allergies, like I had when I was a kid. I just want some relief for her and next time you try to tell me jack crap that you don't know "Summer 2010 or Nah Z" I'll just report you. I am OCD about my house being clean and have done as much as I can to help ease this for her, including not letting her outside much during allergy season. I thought about croup, and definitely is a possibility. Just trying to nail down some ideas before going back to the pediatrician yet againThanks for all the great answers. Honestly though, I completely trust her doctor as he was my pediatrician and knows our medical history very well. I already know it is not Pertussis. She has had this since shortly around/after hitting 2 years old. She has only ever been sick 4-5 times in her whole life, despite not being immunized. She had basic infant immunizations and due to personal beliefs and much research we are refraining from any further ones until her major childhood brain development is finished. Having had my own share of allergy induced coughs I'm prone to believe it's more on the croup side of things since there is no whooping and she has never had severe or long coughing fits and is regularly happy and doesn't seem bothered. I just wondered how many others have had issues like this that might help me get some background info to present to her doctor to see if there's a painless way to help her with it at night.Humidifiers and purifiers do nothing.
moreResolved Question: Is America really the land of the free and the land of opportunity?
First to begin I am American so don't think I am foreigner who just hates the USA. I came to the realization that the US is built to keep the weak and the poor down. Think about it, what other countries you know use the Social Security System and make citizens pay for health care?? Sure we have the best health care but it doesn't come in handy if you cant afford it.
While growing up I use to think the USA was the best place in the world, but now that I am grown I realized I don't have that much freedom.
When I was eighteen I was immature so I decided to take out a loan to buy a vehicle instead of just buying a cheap car with cash. Eventually I defaulted on my car loan and the car was repossessed, although I already paid off the bank like 2 years ago the repossession still shows up on my credit report. Now the sad thing about the US is that your credit score is linked to EVERYTHING (your name might as well be those 9 numbers...jk)
So because of this I cant get loans, certain jobs that require a clearance, I was even denied an apartment once because of that. So as you can see the system is designed to mess up your life once you make one mistake. I would have understood if I was felon but all of this is unnecessary for a car that was repossessed 5 years.....ALSO paid off for in full
The second thing is health care. When I visited the Caribbean I was able to buy my asthma inhalers at a pharmacy for $20 (that's like $4 in the US). No prescription was required since asthma is a deadly chronic lung disease.
Apparently the department of health doesn't really care about that in the US, for me to obtain an inhaler I would have to see a doctor for a prescription. Without health coverage that would cost around $500 including the visit to the doctor (probably more). So by going to another country I saved around $450+.
So why do other countries offer free health care? Is it because they care about the survival of their citizens and the US only cares about money?
The way I see it the US shouldn't be fighting a war because we are already fighting amongst ourselves. The US government was so busy screwing over its own people that they didn't realize that terrorist groups were plotting against them. Then the government was forced to put out more tax dollars to send thousands of troops to the middle east to find Bin Laden.
Us US citizens are being crewed from all sides, I guess that's how the US government obtains its power. They design strategies to keep the poor down and they charge and tax us for EVERYTHING, they don't even care if we live or die.......really sad.......but then again this is 'the land of opportunity, and the land of the free'........who ever said that had to be rich.......lolI know all countries pay into health care but it doesn't come close to what Americans pay. My mother is from England so I know this for a fact. And even if you are unemployed you can go to the hospital for free. If you do that in the US you will receive a bill in the mail after your visit to the hospital
Also I know that the repossession will come off my credit report soon but that's not the point. My point is that the system shouldn't be designed to beat us up like that.
A lot of people may disagree but you all are probably the ones who never worked and lived in foreign countries. Dont be fooled by what you see on TV, other countries have it nice but they never boast like the US does

moreVoting Question: My wife has chronic asthma?
Is it possible to buy or hire an oxygen bottle and mask. My wife has chronic asthma, and suffers badly especially at night. She is using Pulmicort and Bricanyl Turbohalers, which just isn't strong enough. I am so worried because she is really struggling at times.I will ask the doctor about a pulmonologist, this is something I've not heard of. As far as insurance goes we don't have any as we are on benefits. We both don't drink or smoke. If oxygen at night is needed and we cannot get it on the NHS, then I will pay.She is 57, and smoked up to about 1 year ago.
moreResolved Question: Does having chronic to severe asthma feel like a death sentence for some?
after every asthma attack I have it drains so much energy out of my body I can barely stay awake and keep my eyes open I fall into these sleepy spells for a bit and have to go to bed and sleep and I end up staying there for most of the day because I am so tired I cannot move it is totally and completely exhausting.
And sometimes I do not even have the strength to walk by myself to my room I have to be carried almost by leaning on my family members
I have fans on in my room all the time this condition sometimes makes me feel like an invalid
so you see my main question would be....
with this asthma am I going to die?
none of my other family members is this ill so why me? why asthma?
moreResolved Question: Confidence boost help?
Ok, my parents won't let me get my nose pierced because they think i'm too young. Fair enough, i guess. I really want it though. I guess I'll just have to wait.
Small problem. I want a piercing because I really need the confidence! I know, it's stupid, but it's the way i feel, and it's not going to change.
I'm so low in confidence. I get sick all the time (I have chronic asthma and more) and whenever i get back to school, nobody really seems to care, except my 3 best friends. It hurts because I go through a lot, and nobody cares.
I don't want attention, i just want to be known as somebody who's friends with everybody and who stands out - hence the nose piercing. If i can't stand out with that, how else can I get noticed??
BTW the piercing isn't just for show, I want to feel pretty and happy. It WILL help, don't say it won't, it will. I've stuck fake gems on for ages and all my friends think it will really suit me. I don't want the gems anymore, I want a piercing. Yes, it's silly, but that's the way it is.
Hope you can help! please, no abuse.

moreResolved Question: Chronic cough for over 2 months. Could it be Asthma?
I can't remember exactly when it started, but I want to say it started in March on a cold evening when I went running at a park with my boyfriend. I am not normally an outdoor runner. About 5 minutes into the run, my bronchial tubes were on fire and I was having seriously difficulty breathing and I could barely speak.
I am 28 years old and have never been tested for Asthma before. I grew up in a household full of chain smokers but tried to avoid inhaling the 2nd hand smoke as much as possible. I do not smoke and I don't drink much at all unless I'm with friends and that's like a glass of wine if that. I also have Acid Reflux disease. The cough is more prominent at night when I get home from work and am winding down from the busy day. When I work out at the gym I hardly cough at all, but I do experience shortness of breath from time to time. Could I have experienced an Asthma attack from that run back in March and the cough is just a continuous factor from that? Has anyone heard of that? Sorry for the novel. I just was wondering if it's worth the money to visit the doctor about this. I also am not really coughing anything up, but I do get phlegmy throughout the day and I cough mostly when I go to bed. We also have 2 cats, so it could be allergy related too. Who knows.

i have what i believe is asthma and i am also prone to sinus infections. i have talked to some people on here before and they said that because i have asthma and chronic sinus infections that i should take my temp rectally because it is more accurate, and i agree with them. because asthma can get worse when a person is sick. i would like my doctor to be on the same page as me, which means that i want my doctor to take my temp rectally instead of orally. but the problem is that i am very shy, and would be embarrassed to just come out and ask my doctor to take my temp rectally. so i was wondering how i can get my doctor to take my temp rectally without asking him. if you could help me with that i would like to so much.

moreVoting Question: Can I take legal action against a hospital?
Hi there,
I live in Ireland and my son was born in Jan 2008.
My query is that I was put through labour for 6 hours after my waters were broken and there was merconium in the waters, Grade 3.
Since birth my son has had numerous respiratory problems, has chronic asthma and is just always unwell.
I did want to take action as I believe that had my labour been managed better, that my sons health would be completely different.
Problem is that he was born in Jan 2008, and the statute of limitations runs out after 2yrs.
Is there anything else I can do?
I have already written a complaint to the hospital regarding the management of my labout.Roger, thank you very much for the response, i will be getting back onto the hospital as it has been 3 mths since my letter has gone in.
Harry, if u had read the question, first u would probably realise that I live in Ireland so therefore I wouldnt be taking any money from NHS. Second of all, wen I had my son, I paid for his delivery as I went private, I paid for all my visits and for the delivery in full. The very least I expected was to have my delivery go safe and for them to see the problems when they first occured. And 3rd of all, I have paid for my all my sons medication, inhalers, chambers, a nebuliser for my home for him, steroids. I do not want to do this but if there is something that can be done to make the hospital realise that they made a mistake, and make sure they dont make another woman or child endure what I did, it would be well worth it...
moreVoting Question: i have a question as to how i can be more open with my doctor?
i have what i believe is asthma and i am also prone to sinus infections. i have talked to some people on here before and they said that because i have asthma and chronic sinus infections that i should take my temp rectally because it is more accurate, and i agree with them. because asthma can get worse when a person is sick. i would like my doctor to be on the same page as me, which means that i want my doctor to take my temp rectally instead of orally. but the problem is that i am very shy, and would be embarrassed to just come out and ask my doctor to take my temp rectally. so i was wondering how i can get my doctor to take my temp rectally without asking him. if you could help me with that i would like to so much.
thanks in advance for your help

moreResolved Question: Could I have had a heart attack?
I am a 33 y/o female. I've never been diagnosed with heart disease. However, at my last physical in the fall of 09 I was told I have slightly high blood pressure. I was told to cut out fatty foods and exercise more. I am not obese but I am 20 pounds over my normal weight.
Last week and all this week I haven't been feeling well. I took Monday off work which I never do. I've been very tired and feeling a little nauseous. I've also had some dizzy spells.
Yesterday while at work I was sitting down chatting with co-workers. We were having a party for another employee. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my chest and then felt tingling and numbness that went over to my right shoulder and down my right arm. I did not have shortness of breath but did have a strange feeling.
Today I am very tired but feel okay. My mom had bypass surgery about 4 or 5 years ago. I don't know if that counts as family history since my mom has been type one diabetic for over 30 years and that was most likely the cause for her heart disease.
I have insurance but I don't have the money for a co-pay right now. I get paid in a week. I'm a single mom and struggling.
If I go to the doctor in a week will they be able to tell if it was a heart attack?
Do my symptoms sound possible? I'm worried. I didn't think it could happen at my age or especially to me. I'm fairly healthy. I do have chronic asthma.
moreResolved Question: My Sick Grandpa's Own Son Won't Visit?
ok.. so my grandpa is really sick and has been for years now.. he has COPD(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) he suffers from Chronic Bronchitis, Chronic Asthma, and Chronic Emphysema.. He also has Congestive Heart Failure.. And all kinds of other illnesses.. In the past year he has gotten weaker and weaker.. He takes like 15 different medicine 3 times a day.. Some of what he takes includes Morphine.. He takes a total of 60 Ml a day to ease the pain.. Now my Uncle has always been stubborn and what not.. He would borrow money from my grandparents and not even bother to pay them back.. So all in all my grandparents have always went out of their way to help him out, but when they need him he don't even bother to acknowledge it.. My grandpa is always crying because he wants to see my uncle and his 3 grandkids.. There have been a few scares where we thought he was going to die and we would call my Uncle and let him know and tell him that he should come down to see him.. He always says "OK, I'll see if i can get down there" and then he makes up some excuse about his car not working.. So we tell him that we can make arrangements to come get him.. (oh yeah he lives like 50 mins away from my grandpa) but he always says "No, it's ok I'm going to fix the car and head that way" But he never shows! Recently my sister had my nephews first birthday party and my other aunt from where he lives brought her kids down for the weekend and stayed in a hotel so they could make it to the party.. And that same Uncle is the one who brought them down to the hotel.. But he didn't even bother to stop and see my grandpa.. My grandpa later found out that he brought them and was really upset and crying.. And he got depressed and just layed around all day.. Should we just say f*** my uncle and let him do his own stuff and not even call him anymore and not even notify him when the funeral comes or should we keep pushing him to come see him? I can honestly tell you i hate my uncle and i want nothing to do with him.. Why can't he put his differences aside for 20 minutes so he can see his dying father? Once hes gone hes not coming back..

moreResolved Question: What underlying autoimmune conditions do you think I have? Physicians/Nurses/MD's, I'm desperate for help?
Hi may name is Jeb, I'm 22 and live in Ontario, Canada, I'm presenting my case to all of you in the hope you can name some disorders, syndromes, diseases, that go along with my medical history and issues.
Please read what I wrote carefully and help me find out whats wrong with me. I have been going to doctors for 6 years trying to find out what is truly wrong. and lately everything is getting worse. My health is declining and I want to get better and live a normal life, have kits, a wife, work.. I am so ashamed I can't even work.
I have a very rare bleeding disorder called ITP, my disease is chronic and refractory. So, all of the treatments have failed. I have been on Testosterone, Danocrine (which is a modified testosterone), Dexamethasone (a very potent glucocorticoid type of steroid) Prednisone (glucocorticoid steroid), Methylprednisone, which is also a glucocorticoid steroid.
I have tried IVig which is immunoglobulin. It's a blood product, 1 bottle contains donations from thousands of people. So i've had the immunoglobulin of more than 5000 people put in me multiple times.
I ended up having a reaction to it and developed "Aseptic Meningitis" which was extremely painful, as well as rigors, which basically means I was shaking badly. The headache was like nothing you could imagine.
I became desperate after years of having a pretty stable platelet count of 20.
If you have less than a 20 platelet count you are supposed to be hospitalized although here in Canada this won't happen because of lack of beds and overcrowded hospitals.
So, if you have less than 20 a bump to the head could kill you. A punch to the stomach would cause internal bleeding. A punch in the face could and likely would kill you. I bruise extremely easy.
A normal human being has a count of 140 to 400. So at 20 even I am very likely to be injured severely.
I have had multiple bleeds, mostly internally but farely superficial and not involving organs with exception of my lungs.
I cough up blood regularly and it scares me very much.
Having a low platelet count like this really was hard to deal with so I joined a clinical trial. The drug I was on in the trial ended up giving me a pulmonary embolism, actually more than 1.....3 in both lungs.
I was in the hospital for a month. My lungs are left scarred and unable to expand properly because of the scarring. I get about 60-70% expansion of my chest. I noticed immediately after the blood clots I could no longer inhale like I used to.
It has become very stressful fighting for every breath. It's almost like breathing through a straw. I also have bad asthma which doesnt help.
I've had over 20 CT scans in the past 2.5 years looking for clots because every month I have problems where my lungs hurt more and feel like a clot, and I start coughing up large amounts of blood, not just bloody sputum, the blood is coming out of my lungs into my throat when I cough to expel it.
The radiologist from my last scan said I had scarring of my lungs and pleural cavity. He said it looked like I have severe lung disease and it's very serious.
So I have been pumped full of xrays from the CT scan, and also filled with Contrast Dye so they can see the veins and arteries better when they use the diagnostic imaging (CT SCAN). It's very hard on my kidneys. And they are worn out, I have problems with them now. I've also got more than 50 xrays.
My left arm is not fully useable, I broke the end of the shoulder bone. The round ball like part of the bone that fits into the socket. I could not get surgery to correct it because of my blood disorder. The surgeon would not do even though the bone didn't set properly and is more than 1 cm out of place.
Doesn't sound like much but the area that broke/fractured is the area all your muscle, ligaments and tendons rest on and over, so now my arm is very stiff and painful. Writing with a pencil hurts very much. Lifting things hurts.
My doctor wants me to get my spleen taken out but I'm worried it could go wrong because I have no platelets. I will be transfused as they do the surgery but I still worry very much. My doctor is amazing but she is not a surgeon. How can I trust someone I don't really know to cut me up. How can I find out how many patients have died in his care during surgery. I would love to know the information because I could choose the doctor who was better a keeping people alive and not killing them accidentally during surgery.
I'm afraid.
I have also had new symptoms in the past few months, frequent urination, extreme urge to urinate.
Loss of bladder function, I wet my bed 3 times in the last 2 months. I'm 24, and never have wet the bed before except as a very young child maybe 4-5 y/o.
I have a patch on my back which is numb and has no feeling and this is a new manifestation of whatever is going on.
I have been havinI've been having Vertigo, exactly 5 times this month, where I have days where I become dizzy and nauseas and when I tilt my head my eyes start rollin and moving in strange directions very quickly, and I get the urge to vomit.
It's when I tilt my head I get the problem with my eyes going whacky totally out of my control.
It's very very debilitating. I have to lay down. Walking is almost impossible and I become so unstable I have almost fallen down the stairs.

moreVoting Question: How do I treat my depression problems?
Since November of 2008, I'm been having chronic nightmares that have gotten worse and worse. They have made me upset at times, but ever since I started high school in September, I've been feeling depressed a lot. The dreams got worse. I know this might be normal, but I feel alone all of the time. I have lost all ties with my friends, and I rarely leave the house.
I'm a wallflower at my school; I'm not into drama. I have no enemies, and only 3 close friends. I don't smoke or drink, and I'm a bit different because I'm advanced a grade, which means I'm younger than I should be. Although, I do feel smarter than most of my teachers. I don't feel much stress. I just feel anxious a lot, and alone. I have gained a ton of weight, because exercising is hard for me, on account of my asthma. I have a good home life, so I have no reason for any of this.
I've tried a diary, a blog, and talking about it... but talking about it makes no sense when I put in into words. The dreams are killing me, and I can never explain them without crying. I told my doctor about the dreams, and she said to see a psychologist. My mom wouldn't spare her wallet. She thinks I'm perfectly normal.
What should I do?And I don't know if this helps at all, but I have extremely low self esteem.
moreResolved Question: Need honest advice from an honest Army recruiter?
I am 25 years old, hold a Bachelors of Arts, and have been working as a teacher for the past 4 years. I have decided to join the army to serve my country and have dedicated every waking moment of the past 6 months to that end. I did tons of research about what could disqualify me and what can be waived.
I have all my medical records and have gone over them with a fine toothed comb. I was treated for asthma as a kid, last reference to it was when I was 13yrs 2mnths 16days. I was treated for ADHD when in primary school, never took it past year 2000 upon my choice and have had zero problems sense. I have had one broken finger and that is it for bones. I have been diagnosed with bronchitis before, but not chronic and it went away immediately.
My recruiter said that none of that happened and that I shouldn't be penalized for having an over protective mother when it came to ADHD and Asthma (i.e. I didn't have it and it was the fad). I honestly believe I never had either but the forms for MEPS ask if I have ever been treated for it and I have. The recruiter made it sound like EVERY "yes" on the form would keep me 100% out of the army. I want to talk to an honest recruiter for the Army and really see what chances I have. I don't want to lie, but I don't want to penalized because my parents medicated me when there was no need. I want to serve my country with my entire being and defend our way of life. If there are any recruiters that are willing to talk to me I would be greatly appreciative.
moreResolved Question: Why would a military recruiter tell a potential new recruit to lie at the physical isn't that illegal?
Back in high school I took the ASVAB and placed high. I was heavily recruited by the navy. I met with the recruiter and discussed my options. When got to talking about the physical he asked if I had any chronic illness etc and I told him yes I have been an asthmatic my hole life. He asked how bad my asthma was which at the time was not horrible. Maybe one or two ER trips a year but never hospitalized and I actually never even walked with a resource inhaler like I should of because my attacks were not frequent. At the time I could almost predict when one was going to happen. He then said well don't tell the doctor that when you go.

It's mostly in the sternum area above my heart, but sometimes radiates across my chest up to my collar bones & under my arms slightly. It's never radiated down my arms or into my jaw. I do have asthma, but as I mentioned have not had any wheezing or shortness of breath. I also have allergies & have recently been diagnosed with a polyp in my left nostril (for which I'm taking a steroid nose spray), a deviated septum, and a chonca bulosa (air pocket) in the right nostril.
