Resolved Question: Does anyone know anything about rights when it comes to employers terminating your employment in Canada?

I went to work yesterday and worked half of my shift when my boss and HR Manager called me into their office and told me they would be terminating my employment. The got me to sign a piece of paper stating why....which read, because I was not a Team Player, and because of my attendance. 3 weeks ago my doctor took me off work because I had something that was contagious and when I told my boss she said to stay home as long as I need because they don't want it, and when I went back 2 days later she asked me if it was cured because if not I would have to leave, I gave her doctors note for those 2 days. This past friday (a week ago) they sent me from work to the hospital because I took sick and they felt I needed Medical Attention, then Monday when I suppose to return to work my 4 year old took sick we ended up at the doctor and he thought he had pneumonia we went for tests, I called work (my normal shift is 1-9:30 and i'm a Office Admin), I went into work when my husband got home from work and started at 6:30 as asked by my boss so I could complete the days work and I did. Then Tuesday my son ended up in the hospital in the morning and I called and she was upset and told me she needed me there, and I told her I was waiting for the doctor and that I would be in if he got released and he did so as per her request I went in for 7:00 and completed the work I even stayed a bit longer to ensure it was all completed....Wednesday and Thursday I worked my normal shift. I completed a 3 month probation period with an agency before getting hired on, and when I did before I signed with the company they asked me would there be any reason why I would need time off in the next 6 months, to which I explained CLEARLY....that my husband works seasonal and because he's a truck driver that if my son is sick it would have to me taking time off to care for him if thats what it came to, and they said that was NOT a problem and they completely understand. Monday I had a note explaining why I was home (or late) and Tuesday the day we spent in the hospital when the doctor released us my son was sick and I forgot to ask for a note, I told my boss if they needed one I could get one and they said it was ok don't worry about it!! I have documents to back me up for the days I missed. Is there anything wrong with the way they fired me?? more

Resolved Question: New Onset of asthma, really "reversable"?

I had pneumonia last October, and my lungs have never been 100% since. I finally went to the doctor because my spring allergies have made it rather difficult to breathe.. Coughing, wheezing, chest pain, etc... After several breathing tests, treatments, and more tests- the doctor told me I have asthma. He also said we could "reverse" it, and make it go away with Prednisone & inhaler use every 4 hours, for 7 days. Everything I've read since diagnosis, is that asthma cannot be reversed & it will be a persistent problem for the rest of my life. Was my doctor sugar-coating my hopes? Or can it be cured because it just began???? more

Voting Question: is it possible that bilateral pneumonia can't be cured though 6 months treatment had gone through?

I only heard this at the hospital where we usually go that a child had this disease and been curing for 6 months but after taking his final x ray examination, there's still spot on his lungs meaning he's not yet cured. Is it really possible? What should a doctor do after 6 months of treatment, the patient still positive to this infectious disease? more

Voting Question: How do I deal with a family's end?

Well I should describe it. I think my family's finally "dying" in a way. My mom's side of the family, the only one I've ever really known. I never got to know my dad's since they live far away in Chicago from Oregon and we never see them and never got to know them. Last January, my uncle had died suddenly in a snowmobile accident. My grandpa was devastated, we all were. But no one more than him. I'm sure the emotional damage had physical repercussions. He came down with pneumonia and went to the hospital this month. He was cured, thank goodness. He's 85. But since he left the hospital, he's changed. He feels like he's not far from his own end. It's like he's giving up on life. It's the most heartbreaking thing ever to see...He's my last grandparent to be left alive and if he passes, I worry we will never visit family in the south ever again. I don't think mom was ever close to my uncle's kids, my cousins, so we would have not much reason to visit. My uncle was long divorced and we never talk to his ex. I feel like I'm officially losing my family. All I'd ever have then are my friends and a someday lover. I'm sure the family drifting concept is inevitable to most people. How can I learn to move on? more

Voting Question: Having Problems with Erections or Ejaculating?

Hello All, About a week to a week and a half ago I had a pneumonia and double ear infection. I have taken 10 days of Ava-lox antibiotics along with two other prescriptions to remove the congestion and to cure it. I also have been prescribed Xanax about a month ago to cool my stress down which I have only taken 2 pills since I had them. But now it seems i'm having a hard time and forever to get an erection or even ejaculating. I'm 37 years old and I also take meds for High Blood Pressure, Type 2 Diabetes and High Cholesterol. Those meds aren't very strong although I do know they could play a part in it but never have in the past I was fine. And now when I do ejaculate it burns a little at the time and tip of my penis and just doesn't feel right. Could any of these medicines play a part in this, could it be i'm a little stressed out or is it possible that my penis my have an infection or problem from the cold? I have been with my finances for 6 years now so not sleeping around or anything like that. Please let me know you thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, more

Resolved Question: Cushings?...and plz no acai berry advertisement I'm alergic?

I'm 21, and about 220lbs. A few years ago I had some blood work done and the doctor found that I had high cortisone. It was so high he told my parents that he thought I was taking steroids on the side, when in fact I had to take some when I had pneumonia about a year or so before. I did have a rapid weight gain in my early teens, but a few things were happening to stress me out (3 grandparents died, moving, and a court case for sexual assault) so we thought it was caused by the stress and didn't pay much attention to that, Though ever time I go on a diet, and exercises I don't see any results (burning a thousand calories, my goal for whenever I got onto a cardio machine, a day should of resulted in something). I have a buffalo hump (I think), but it's not very big. I find it hard to fall asleep at night, but sleep during the day. My face is very round. I had stretch marks across my stomach, back of my legs, and arms but most have healed up though there are still a bunch on the top of my stomach. and I have a moustache, a few hairs on my chest and chin, and a pretty thick uni-brow, When I was 14-16 was my period started skipping months, but I was always to scared to tell anyone. The longest I've been without one is about 6 months. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was about 18, but when the results came back the doctor said my thyroid was sending out the right amount of stuff but the part of the brain that controls the thyroid was slowing down. So my questions are: do you think it could be cushings? how long does it take for cortisone to leave the body? could the cortisone have been misread, instead it was high cortisol (my doc wasn't exactly the brightest light bulb? could the high cortisone have hinted that all of was going to happen, and does it hint that it could be cushings? about what age does cushings usually strike? if it is cushings, could my hypothyroidism be cured when they remove the tumour? more

Resolved Question: In the past few years how many atheists did something similar to what these theists did?

Andrea Yates, Houston Texas, 2001. Drowned her 5 children. The reason she gave was that her children weren’t righteous and were doomed to Hell. Dena Schlosser, Plano Texas, 2004. Amputated her baby's arms with a knife and offered her to God, as she believed God had commanded her to do. Blaine Milam & Jessica Carson, Rusk County Texas, 2008. Told police Carson’s 13 month old daughter was possessed and they tried to exorcize the demons out of her by beating her with a hammer and biting her. It may have been successful, as the autopsy did not reveal any demons. Jan David Clark, Odessa Texas, 2008. Said he was holding his 59 year-old wife face-down on the floor during an exorcism when the devil entered his body and caused her to die. Otty Sanchez, San Antonio Texas, 2009. Said the devil made her kill and mutilate her 3 ½ week old son. She reportedly decapitated the baby, ate part of his brain, and chewed 3 of his toes off. March 2008, Weston Wisconsin. Leilani Neumann’s daughter was sick. She and her family prayed and prayed for the girl to get better, but she didn’t. They thought their God was testing their faith. They didn’t want to show their lack of faith by going to a doctor. So the child died of untreated diabetes on Easter Sunday, 2008. According to a police chief who spoke with Leilani Neumann, the mother believed that her daughter could be resurrected. April 5, 2009. Marie Moore and her son, Mitchell, were shooting targets at a gun range when without any warning she shot her son in the head and then turned the gun on herself. She said in tapes and notes left before the murder/suicide that God made her the Antichrist, and that she must die to save her boyfriend, son and the world from violence, and her mother, father and brother from hell. Among the things she said was "Hopefully when I die, there will 1,000 years of peace." February 2009. LaGrange, Missouri. Christopher Piersee murdered his 21 year old wife and 5 month old son then painted crosses on them with their own blood. Later, he told deputies he was the archangel Michael and he had killed Lucifer (his wife) and the Antichrist (his son) with a knife because bullets wouldn't work. He also painted "Michael" and "Lucifer" on the wall with blood. Clackamas County, Oregon, March 2, 2008. As 15-month-old Ava Worthington struggled to breathe, church members anointed her with oil and pleaded with God to provide a cure. But Ava died March 2, 2008, of bronchial pneumonia and a blood infection. Antibiotics could have saved her life, the state medical examiner's office said. Four months after Ava died, her 16-year-old uncle, Neil Beagley, died from heart failure due to complications from a urinary tract blockage. Beagley's death could have been easily prevented by a urologist placing a catheter to remove the blockage. He was instead taken to his grandmother's where members of the family's church attempted to cure him through "faith healing."Steadfast: So you should be able to find similar cases where the delusional people alligned themselves with atheism and killed their kids with their atheism playing a key role, right? more

Voting Question: How do I cure symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, sore lungs, trouble breathing, no headache, stuffy nose?

I have all of the symptoms above. However, I don't feel dizzy, or have a headache/temperature. I can run, lift weights, do push ups, but breathing is killing me badly. I feel like I'm going to cough out a lung. Right now I'm on spring break, I don't go outside. All I do is work inside a center, and come home to watch T.V I'm healthy 5'6 140lb male, and I've had these symptoms for nearly a month now. I am certain I caught it from either my sister, or co workers. All of them cough constantly, and they never cover their mouth. I kindly ask them to cover their mouth, but they never do. In fact, my co worker coughed on my pizza, and never covers her mouth when she coughs. I have to work by her constantly. My sister had a fever/whatever (live with her) My co worker had pneumonia/bronchitis (hardly by her) My other co worker had walking pneumonia (sometimes by her) Co worker who constantly never covers her mouth, and coughed on my pizza (by her a lot, but don't know what she has) I have no health insurance, but I have a lot of money. I will buy whatever medications over the counter is suggested. So please give me some advice/prescriptions. I have been taking a lot of cough drops, and very little cough medicine. I don't think I'm getting better, because I have a really hard time breathing. I cough often about every 30 seconds to 1 minute. It's one cough, then wait, one cough, wait. Sometimes I cough a lot together. Another question= Do you recommend physical activity? RUnning is healthy more

Resolved Question: Suggestions plz :) A junior, trying to find a field of interest...?

Firstly, thanks for being ready to provide me some suggestions. I am a junior in High School, and the thought of future has started to overwhelm me; not in a bad way though. I would want to know what I am looking for when I become a senior and go to college. I really love learning about the parts of our body and tying to cure if anything happens wrong with them. Sicknesses such as paralysis, diabetes, pneumonia, and other normal ones like cold, diarrhoea, etc fascinate me. Out of those, if I had to choose one, problems related with brain would be the one that interests me even more. Stuffs such as how and why they happen and what should be done to cure them really absorb me. I am also a hard woker, pretty good listener, and strictly rule follower. Additionally, I love helping people. I know, or I think I know, how much pain people endure with when they go through some kind of sickness. And, trying to help them out with what really is going on and what should they do to get better makes me feel like I am helping them fight their pain in some way. Awwww, how I love to see the smile of relief! Therefore, based on what I like, plz suggest me what field do I look like I am interested in, and please be specific. If you think it might be some kind of therapist, then be little more specific. Sorry if that was little to much. I thought you would need enough informaion about what I like if you were to help me. Once again, thanks a lot for reading, and I really apprciate your will to help me. more

Resolved Question: African Helmeted Turtle lethargic, swollen eyes and sick looking?

Hello, I rescued an African Helmeted Turtle from the place I used to work at about a year ago. She had a severe case of shell rot, and the store I worked at was going to put her down. Since I have gotten her, I have cured the shell rot by taking her to the vet, and getting antibiotics and vitamin injections. Recently, she has become increasingly more lethargic, and her eyes have started to swell again. Sometimes I see mucus come from her nostrils, but she doesn't float to the top of the water like you would see in typical pneumonia cases. The vet I took her to wasn't very good, he peeled off her shell before it was ready to shed, causing her to bleed, then gave me a pamphlet about how to take care of water turtles, but the pamphlet was mostly talking about Red Ear Sliders (which eat a lot of vegetables), who eat differently than an African Helmeted Turtle (which are mainly carnivorous). She's stopped eating her pelleted food, and I mainly feed her meat, but I'm afraid this has caused her to become malnourished. She will not eat any vegetables I put in her water. She is in a 40 gallon tank by herself, heat lamp, water heater, UV-B light, lots of basking space (She prefers it) and filter. Water temperature is around 78 degrees to 80. I don't know what else to do.Is there anyone else who has had and African Helmeted/Sideneck turtle that has witnessed these problems? Also, I'm not sure how old she is, but I think she is on the older side, she is full grown from as far as I have read about her species, and I only guesstimate she is around 7 years or more. Any advice would be welcome, because I don't think my vet knows her species well at all. Thanks for your help, I went ahead and took her to the vet, and he said she needed vitamins and to be force fed. Thanks anyways :) more

Resolved Question: At last a simple Cure for CanineDistemper?

I had 2 stray dogs and both were treated for Canine Distemper. One Dog Destiny died 1 month after treatment. But she was too ill even for this advanced and complicated treatment. The Treatment is CSF( Cerebro Spinal Fluid) Tap. It involves injecting the sensitive area with NDV Vaccine(New Castle Disease Virus Vaccine). And to my surprise both were alive till one month. But After one month one of the Dog that had was severely immune compromised and also the weakest died. But the other one is still surviving and is in recovery mode. Few days after this i found on the site that high dose of Vitamin A can be used to treat Canine Distemper (CD). Later one guy from Mumbai had lost 2 dogs to CD on Nov 21 and Nov 24 this year. He had another dog which lived with the infected dogs. On Nov 26 that dog too started to show lack of diet, high fever, cough, the owner got worried and called me to help with the situation. After analysong the situation it became evident that dog had initial symptoms of CD. To be specific it had pneumonia which is one of the initial symptoms of CD. The NDV didn't work on dogs below 12 weeks. His dog was 9 weeks old. I suggested him the VITAMIN A. His Vet also agreed to treat this dog with Vitamin A. She had XRAY done for her chest which showed pneumonia. Along with Pneumonia the dog was given very very high doses of Vitamin A. It was administered 3000 IU of Vitamin per KG of body weight daily for 15 days. And now the dog which had actually lost a little weight is healthy, fine and energetic and also added some 50% weight. At last we have a treatment for CD which is easy and cheap, unlike the NDV CSF Tap. Please people spread the word of high dose of Vitamin A against CD infected dogs.Source:: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine_distemper#Treatment@Kelle:: I got this Vitamin A treatment for CD from Wikipedia, and i don't think they will allow you to post unless you have some references or proof. more

Resolved Question: Yellow dis-colored Phlem, coughing/ sore throat, little trouble breathing?

Alright, Friday the 11. I suddenly got a sore throat at work. Maybe it had worsed over the day because i didn't notice it when i woke up. just kinda got worse as the day when through. That was the first symptom i had. Then Sunday the 13th i got congested really bad. My gf rubbed Vicks all over my chest, helped alot. Been drinking day quill. About half a shot-glass full. I know kinda sounds ghettoish. Only way i can measure the dosage. Now, on the 14th Monday. I got my check bought some Mucinex-DM. After 6 hours for at least an hour and a half i was coughing up green stuff. That stopped. Then it went to dark brown to light brown. Now its kinda dark yellowish. Also been taking Dayquil, Nightquil, Theraflu day-time and night-time. However, I have had trouble breathing since sunday. Not to much. i figured it was because of the phlem. it was like a bubbling gurgling sound every time i breathed. The sound is almost gone, still have a hint of a breathing problem. (Basically im congested) My first thought was it was pneumonia. But i don't even have half the symptoms. didn't get chills, no fever, No pain in chest, skins not turning colors. Also though it was the basic pain in the ass common cold. maybe just the flu. I seem to be getting better i just want to take precautions. My Question is this. What do you think i have? Am i taking the right Precautions? Also what other over the counter meds can i get or possible substitutions of Penicillin can i get? Im treating this as pneumonia and taking other precautions. They say Penicillin helps cure congestion. more

Voting Question: Is this a known disorder? Is it normal to get life-threatening diseases, which leave the next day?

I am 18 and fairly healthy-looking, but I'm afraid I'm very ill. I get many well-known diseases, cancers and such, daily but they leave after. I felt a lump in my neck recently, which is a sign of leukemia, so I figured I had it, but it comes and goes, so I guess my leukemia comes and goes. Also, recently, I had Tuberculosis because I had flu-like symptoms and coughed up blood once. That's a sign of Tuberculosis. I also get Pneumonia, which usually lasts for a few days and comes and goes. I find tumours everywhere, but, like everything else, they come and go. I have heart problems that come and go, muscle problems, bone problems, lung problems, everything. I self-diagnose myself usually, but I always go to Wikipedia and find the symptoms of what I have. I was wondering if it was a disorder to get all life-threatening disorders once in a while and get cured of them after for a few days until they come back. more

Resolved Question: Dad was just diagnosed with lung cancer, might have kidney cancer-chances?

For months the doctors have thought my dad had pneumonia, which they thought they cured, and that it had come back. But they tested a part of his lung and it's cancer. He has something in his kidney that might be cancer also, they aren't sure. He's had such a hard year, with open heart surgery just this October. He's 60 years old. I don't want to say how long - because that makes it sound like a sure loss. Just, what kind of percentages go along with lung cancer? Also, if you have gone through lung cancer or have been close to someone with it, do you have any tips for making it through? I'm so scared. Also, he has never been a smoker, if that is relevant. Thank you more

Resolved Question: I have a question about my working rights?

I have worked for a job for 2 years. I finally accumulated enough hours to take a vacation (40 hours) and see my grandmother who is dying. I came back in August to work. Around Mid-September she took a turn for the worst and I took a day off because I thought she was about to die and I wanted to be by the phone for my mother who is taking it hard. Last month a HUGE list of things happened: My father ended up getting very very ill and ended up in the ICU. He had a heart attack, his blood sugar was through the roof, he got sepsis (a blood infection), AND pneumonia which shut down one of his lungs. My grandmother ended up in the ICU with her second stroke. Not only this, she has Pulmonary Fibrosis (a lung disease with no cure) My grandfather has a stroke (different part of the family) My daughter got EXTREMELY ill. She is 3 and I had to have her in and out of the hospital. Her lungs sound horrible, still, even after a month and the docs are trying to find out what is going on. My uncle died from Liver Failure. I ended up having to take 2 days off the week before last, and then the hospital wanted my daughter out of school for a whole week. I found daycare for most of that week, but a few days I had to leave early to get her (one hour one day) and take 1 more day off. This left me with no sick hours. (Since I had used my vacation prior not knowing all of this would come up) I got an email from my boss stating that if my attendance continues like this I will basically lose my job. Now I am an excellent worker and things like this don't happen all the time. I also have doctors notes for all of the time I was out for my daughter. What can I do? I am afraid if I have to take my daughter in again I will lose my job, even though I have provided notes. Is this legal? To let somebody go over attendance if it is for the health of their child and they provided doctors notes? I need to know how to proceed. I am basically in tears right now, and they won't stop.... more

Resolved Question: Why should I have to get the H1N1 vaccine?

Other than it causes terrible side effects, such as lung clot, or worse. Yeah I feel crap today, i might have pneumonia or bronchitis. The flu is similar to the regular flu, right? You'd be out of action for weeks and probably be guarantied if people found out you are taking the vaccine. This vaccine doesn't even cure the disease, let alone reduce symptoms. As an undergraduate and tax payer I refuse to get the vaccine voluntaryOh so there is no law? Obama is trying to force us tax payers to get it. more

Resolved Question: I could really use some input PLEASE.?

For the last month and a half I have been feeling terrible. At first I was coughing, had headaches, sore throat, runny nose, and nausea. I went the the urgent care at my doctor's office ( my normal doctor was off ) and they said they think I have sinusitis/pharyngitis. They game me antibiotics and sent me home. After a week and a half or so I went back to MY doctor because I felt like I was only getting worse. My doctor told me to stop taking the antibiotics and gave me cough medicine because he thinks it was a virus. Well, two weeks later I still was not any better and on top of everything I now have a fever ranging from 99.4-100.3 all day long. I went back to the doctor and he thinks it is bronchitis, so he put me back on antibiotics and gave me more cough medicine. Needless to say, I am still not better and it's been a two weeks or more since I last went. My coughing has gone down a lot, but isn't better. I finished all the antibiotics like I was told.... My fever has not gone away and its been over 2 weeks, he told me not to take anything because the fever wasn't high enough. I have started to get migraines for about a week and a half, all day long almost and it keeps me up at night. Ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, etc. does not work. I am extremely tired all the time and I just want to be better. I found a rash on my neck. I don't know if the rash is relevant but its there. I also feel like my joints are getting weaker, and am having a lot of problems with it, for example my shoulder, ankles and knees are either coming out of place or just getting really sore and feeling extremely weak. My lower back has also been feeling like there is a knife in it and it happens suddenly for a few minutes then goes away... Any ideas? -its not meningitis. -its not pneumonia. -its not strep. -its not a bacteria or infection. I recently got a blood test done and it showed only that there is no bacteria or infection. I also have blood being sent off the check for issues with the rest of my body, I'll get the results within a week. I really just need some hope that it isn't something serious, something that maybe my doctors or I am over looking. I have read through sicknesses and diseases. And still nothing seems to fit. I guess I'm looking for hope that some medical genius or someone who has had similar symptoms and was cured. more

Resolved Question: Is Anyone Getting H1N1 for their Children?

Is anyone planning on getting the vaccine for their child? I personally, will not. The last vaccine for the H1N1 caused paralysis from Guillon(sp?) Barre syndrome. But this "epidemic" is no more serious than the regular flu. People die from the regular flu every year. It depends on people's immune systems, and complications such as pneumonia that actually cause the deaths. But since this is new, too many people are freaking out and jumping into a cure that has been created way to quickly. Vaccines take time, and proper testing should be done. How much testing could be done in a matter of a few months? Until more testing is done, I would rather take the chance of my child throwing up for a few days than developing a side effect from the vaccine. more

Resolved Question: What is the problem with healthcare?

For the longest time in my life no one cared, Obama is a socialist, but besides the fact, seriously what is the problem, to see if there is one I will list the top 10 causes of death by the CDC and see if medical treatment is necessary. In all cases of Emergency by law the Hospitals MUST take you, even they take illegal immigrants. No one gets denied to the ER, so any ways here are the top 10 killers in America according to the CDC. URL- http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/FASTATS/lcod.htm * Heart disease: 631,636 * Cancer: 559,888 * Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 137,119 * Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 124,583 * Accidents (unintentional injuries): 121,599 * Diabetes: 72,449 * Alzheimer's disease: 72,432 * Influenza and Pneumonia: 56,326 * Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 45,344 * Septicemia: 34,234 1. Heart Disease - is my favorite since the causes are related to poor diet, lack of exercise, and stress. You don't need health care to treat your self unless you need a prescription to exercise. 2. Cancer has a problem since that is a vague term, what kind of cancer, really if it's anything related to smoking, being over weight, are caused by the individual. The other problem is modern medicine today doesn't even have a true cure. Does it really matter how many times you want to go through Chemotherapy till you die? You got leukemia which is cancer of the blood, That's the only one I can picture needing to go to the hospital for, considering you need to get your blood checked, unfortunately that group is such a minority in the big spectrum of cancer it's not an issue. Not to mention cancer it's self can be spotted by annual check ups, a doctor visit doesn't cost much, you're acting like you are going through an MRI per visit. 3. Stroke - is the same concept as a heart attack, just a stroke is the lack of blood flow to the brain. So the same concept of proper nutrition, exercise, and stress management occurs. No need for a doctor. 4. Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease - 80% of it is caused by smoking or second hand smoke. Someone tell me if you need health insurance to prevent stupidity. The cure is oxygen replacement and to stop smoking. Please tell me how expensive that is. What happens is if you can't use your lungs efficiently you become dependent on using an oxygen tank. I can't think of how expensive it truly must be to refill an oxygen tank. Man this is hilarious on how "Expensive it is" 5. Accidents - Do you really need health insurance for this? 6. Diabetes - again is vague, there are 3 types of diabetes, Type 1 will always be insulin dependent, type 2 is insulin dependent due to having a poor diet and ruining their blood sugar by bad choices, and type 3 is caused when a female is pregnant, which more so goes away. Type 2 Diabetics is the biggest in this catagory, again why am I repeating myself, it's the individuals fault, except for type 1, since type 1 are genetically that way. Type 2 isn't genetic, Type 1 can see a doctor for free for all I care it's such a small number compared to the type 2. Type 2 is done by poor choices of diet and lack of exercise. I repeat myself alot. 7. Alzheimer's disease - There is no cure, what good is it if you have health insurance any ways? So you can be pumped full of drugs and be slowly dying in a painless way. There is no cure like cancer, no true cure. There are little treatments that still don't change the out come. It doesn't matter regardless. 8. Influenza and Pneumonia - If you read up on this, it suggests to get vaccinated for this. Again with the prevention factor individuals won't consider. The main treatment for influenza is to rest, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid exertion. Fever and aches are sometimes treated with acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as aspirin or ibuprofen). Does that even sound expensive to drink fluids and rest then swallow an over the counter drug like aspirin? 9. Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis - Finally one that really requires hospital treatment, this is the failure of the kidney, of course you need a hospital for this. This one will hurt if you don't have health insurance, I can finally agree that the individual uninsured here is screwed. 10. Septicemia (also septicæmia [sep⋅ti⋅cæ⋅mi⋅a][3], or erroneously Septasemia and Septisema) is a related but deprecated (formerly sanctioned medical) term referring to the presence of pathogenic organisms in the blood-stream, leading to sepsis.[4] The term has not been sharply defined. It has been inconsistently used in the past by medical professionals, for example as a synonym of bacteremia. In the lame terms, due to unsanitary conditions or place of alot of bacteria can this be consumed. The therapy of sepsis rests on antibiotics, surgical drainage of infected fluid collections, fluid replacement and appropriate support for organ dysfunction. AntiUninsured doctor visits cost on average. Family practice: $95 to $265 Specialist: $115 to $325 Antibiotics cost on average $65 to 125 dollars a week.Wow alot of my information got sliced off.Chester why do you need health insurance for preventive care when it suggests you eat right, exercise, and manage your stress? How the hell do you not comprehend that, does a doctor need to write you a prescription to run 2 miles?PARKERD: What kind of person sits there dying of things they lacked to manage. You realize the top 10 killers of America are manageable, You're taking away the individual responsibility of people and assuming it's not their fault. We can be a fascist country and mandate everyone eats a certain way, exercises a certain way, but then it would conflict with our freedom. People are freely choosing to kill them selves with the poor choices they make. It's not lack of insurance, it's lack of self respect.eelfins: I am advocating for prevention because the causes of these diseases could be prevented, cancer has many preventions, most people that have cancer don't get it randomly like they're struck by lightning. So why do you need to treat someone with health insurance like the number 1 killer, which can be prevented by proper nutrition, exercise, and stress management. Is Yahoo Answers holding an idiot marathon? You don't need hospital treatment for illnesses that can be prevented. Same reason why I don't need someone to tell me to cross the street, when I can prevent getting hit by looking both ways. Cross the road to enlightenment please, you're blaming lack of insurance on the individuals lack of prevention. If these illnesses where caused by random lucky I'd say otherwise.YA! the anti-conservative site: Can I rip your pants off and shove your genitalia in my face, since you're the one decent enough to make a standard statement. Of course Medicare and Mediciaid ruined the private sector of health care. You can't have the government give free health care options and expect a private insurance company to compete fairly. It forms a monopoly and drives away the private competition since the government can't lose since it has unlimited funds with taxpayers, only way the government can lose is if it goes bankrupt. Oh wait we are 11 trillion dollars in debt. I hope to god someone wakes up and stops advocating for more liabilities for this nation.Alan S: those 45,000 people that die yearly and don't have health insurance you so claim. How do you know their cause of death is directly related to cause of death. How do you know what they died from? If someone gets hit by a car and dies and doesn't have health insurance they would be a part of your statistic. But really it wouldn't be relevant. I would need to know the causes of death. I listed the top 10 causes of death in America by the federal site. If you notice most of them can be prevented if people took care of them self. Maybe I'll rip my ears off and attach them to your skull so hopefully you can hear what I am saying. I am disgusted by how you allow people to be uneducated and voluntarily kill them self and advocate for health care being cheaper. Why not advocate people to make healthier life style choices. Make them a non-heart attack statistic, what good is health care when you make poor choices and die from a heart attack. Preventative measures are the top priority. more

Voting Question: Why isn't my wheezing going away?

I am 20 years old. I've been smoking since i was 17. About 5 or 6 months ago, I got bronchitis which then turned into pneumonia. I was put on meds and given an inhaler to use while i recovered. I was wheezing pretty bad because of the pneumonia. Thankfully, the meds that i was given cured my pnuemonia but ever since then, I've never stopped wheezing. It comes and goes randomly throughout the day. Some days i'm completely fine. I cut back a lot on my smoking but still smoke. I know i am young and haven't been smoking for that long so I am convinced this wheezing isn't purely from smoking. I don't know why i still am though. It is so annoying! more

Resolved Question: Why do mainstream medicine apologists attack colloidal silver?

Prior to the advent of patentable and more profitable antibiotics, medicines containing silver were the most widely prescribed infection fighters by doctors and there were no fewer than 34 different approved prescription and over the counter medications with silver particles. Now, after improved and nano-technology, and the elimination of most large particle and silver nitrate products, colloidal silver proponents claim that it is safer and more effective than ever. At the same time, however, it has been the subject of increasing attacks as a scam, quackery and/or dangerous by mainstream medicine and the bloggers and apologists who oppose alternatives to non-approved medicines. When it is pointed out that colloidal and nano-silver is used by NASA, Potters for Peace, the Hong Kong Subway System, Cure-Aid, and major hospital burn units, the detractors say yes, perhaps it works externally, but when taken internally it causes dangerous toxicity due to silver build-up, causes people to turn blue, and, in a familiar refrain, claim that it has no "scientifically" proven benefits. Yet, the EPA says that 90-95% of ingested silver particles are eliminated from the body within two days and 99% within a week, and the bluest of the blue people, "Papa Smurf" Paul Karason (who, like the Montana senator, actually took large quantities of home-made silver made with tap water and contaminated with salt for a prolonged period of many months) was given a clean bill of health at Mount Sinai Hospital. Insofar as scientific studies, last year it was reported that researchers in Hungary found specific silver receptors on human tissue - an indication that silver plays an important role in human health. A joint study between the University of Texas and Mexico University published in the Journal of Nanotechnology which showed that silver nanoparticles of sizes 1-10nm attached to HIV-1 and prevented the virus from bonding to host cells. A study conducted by the Department of Microbiology at Kyungpook National University in Daegu, Korea, and published in the prestigious Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, found that nano-silver was comparable in effectiveness to Amphotericin B, one of the most powerful prescription antifungal drugs known to man, which is often used intravenously to cure serious systemic fungal infections, and was found to be superior to the well-known anti-fungal drug fluconazole (popularly known as Diflucan). And then there is the recently completed study conducted by researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine and the University of Akron, Ohio, and presented at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society, where researchers infected a group of mice with the bacteria Pseudomona aeroginosa, a common cause of bacterial pneumonia in humans, especially those on ventilators, those with cystic fibrosis or those with compromised immune systems. All the mice which inhaled aerosolized nanoparticles known as silver silver carbene complexes (SCCs), had significantly lower concentrations of bacteria in their lungs than mice inhaling placebo nanoparticles. Most significantly, none of the mice in the SCC group died, while all the mice in the control group did. Were all those doctors who prescribed silver products and the scientists who conducted the studies liars, scammers and/or quacks? (Must have been the placebo effect, huh?) Meanwhile millions of people around the world are taking it and reporting cures of pneumonia, staph, candida, MRSA, Chrohns, Lyme, flus including the H1N1 flu, and much more. So, is mainstream medicine and its advocates and agents attacking colloidal silver because it really does not work and is dangerous, or could it be that they simply attack it and anything else that represents a threat to the hundreds of billions in profits from patented drugs? Resolved Question: How many of your relations are alive, thanks to the NHS?

When my mum was born there was no NHS. She had a difficult childhood, due to illness. She spent a lot of time in hospital at great expense to my grandparents. Complications from all that led to her needing a heart operation almost 30 years ago. She got that on the NHS for free. They've basically extended her life by decades. She's an old woman now, and is currently in hospital again. She keeps falling foul to old age. Basically they keep her going and going. The NHS has fixed her heart, cured her cancer, caught and controlled her diabetes, they've rescued her from pneumonia and a few other complicated stomach problems. She's had her money's worth. Resolved Question: puppy has hiccup like twitch for days now, what’s this due to?

7 week old puppy has hiccup like twitch for days now, what’s this due to? The litter of five, has been diagnosed with distemper and I’ve had to put two puppies down and one passed away. The two that remaining are strong and healthy, play hard, eat anything we give them, pee and poop normally. They did go thru a phase where they were sick but they survived, they still have a month to go with this virus which there is no cure for. I have the support of 3 Vet Hospitals, but if I take them to the ER or Vet to find out why he has hiccups for days now, I’m afraid they may say it is seizures and recommend putting him down. Some Distemper Symptoms: low body temperature, white like discharge from nose, non-stop seizures, gum syndrome, loss of appetite, sleeps a lot, weak and loss of weight, major dehydration, kennel cough, pneumonia. The hiccups are not part of the symptoms of distemper, that I know of and he is not in pain and is acting normal in all other senses. I am taking care of these puppies till they get better then adopted out thru a rescue who I foster for. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for myself and even harder for my girlfriend. more

Resolved Question: Prayer healing court cases?

http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/5761815/girls-dad-trusted-god-to-heal-her/ at the end of the article it says that; Last week, an Oregon jury convicted a man of misdemeanour criminal mistreatment for relying on prayer instead of seeking medical care for his 15-month-old daughter who died of pneumonia and a blood infection in March 2008. Both of the girl's parents were acquitted of a more serious manslaughter charge. Is it because of pressure from christian groups that people who do things like this aren't found guilty of manslaughter or found to be criminally insane and sentenced to a mental hospital? Would it be different if a schizophrenic that thought the aliens living in his fridge would cure his sick baby rather than 'god'. Would they get a harsher sentence or is it the intent that is what the court is thinking about here? ie. would someone with the same benign intent but a less socially acceptable fantasy receive the same sentence?) more
